43 (38) Sophie Webster 8.09% (Round 1)

In 43rd place and a far cry from her top 15 debut in 2011, we have Sophie Webster! Sophie used to have quite a lot of fans, however she’s seemed to have lost that over the past years and seems to get quite a lot of criticism nowadays. After Sian left her on New Years Eve, the whole of 2012 has pretty much been Sophie coping without her. She hasn’t really done much for most of the year and has just worked in the shop and been in the background of scenes, she now seems to getting a bigger role after starting a relationship with Jenna, however the relationship hasn’t proved popular so far and has been criticized for lack of chemistry. Will things improve for Sophie?

42 (54) Matt Carter 8.14% (Round 1)

At 42 and with a pretty big rise, it’s the street’s resident GP, Matt Carter! This rise is a little surprising, considering Matt has probably featured less in 2012 than he did in 2011, however I think it’s due to him appearing in a pretty weak heat and people ranking him high due to his aesthetic qualities! Matt was featured more at the beginning of the year, as he was in a relationship with Tina. However that soon fell apart and he now makes sparse appearances whenever the characters need a doctor. Will Matt feature more in 2013?

41 (45) Tracy McDonald 8.55% (Round 1)

Just missing out on the top 40, it’s toxic Tracy Barlow! I completely despised Tracy when she first returned to the street, which was mostly due to her awful entrance and Kate Ford’s questionable acting abilities. However over the past years I’ve kinda grown to love Tracy, and I think Kate’s better now she’s settled more, and I’m actually surprised she’s not slightly higher! Tracy has had many new relationships and new feuds in 2012, starting off the year desperate to get back with Steve, she soon moved to Ryan, much to the annoyance of enemy Michelle Connor! She now looks set to embark on a relationship with another of the main men in Michelle’s life, Rob Donovan, but how will that work out for her?

40 (43) Tommy Duckworth 8.58% (Round 1)

In 40th place, and with a slight rise, it’s Tommy Duckworth! I think some posters are growing to quite like Tommy and were on his side during the whole surrogate storyline, however I’ve started to dislike him even more this year! I just found him incredibly irritating and unlikeable during the surrogacy storyline, I can maybe slightly see his side but the way he acts just annoys the hell out of me, and I have no sympathy for him. Despite this, he has had a pretty explosive year, being involved in two of the biggest storylines in 2012- the surrogacy storyline and domestic abuse storyline. Will this continue or will Tommy take more of a backseat throughout 2013?

Sorry that I haven't been able to do as many as I wanted to today, but I will hopefully get numbers 29-16 done tonight, with the top 15 tomorrow

Shame Katy is so low in the 40s, they seriously need to split her from Chesney and allow her to have fun, she's 17 going on 70!!! And from a male perspective I would say the same with Tommy, the man has a constant long face, he is gorgeous looking and should be out having the time of his life with loads of birds! His character needs to change big time...

39 (N/A) Lewis Archer 8.70% (Round 1)

In 39th place, and the highest ranking newcomer, it’s Lewis Archer! Some people might be surprised at his ranking as he was very popular towards the end of his stint, however I think it’s all down to timing as he was in the first heat, and if he had been in a later heat I think he would have ranked much higher! I didn’t like Lewis when he first came back to the street, however I must admit he won me over by the end! His storyline with Gail was great and the last few episodes were Corrie gold As Lewis has now left the street with Gail’s money it looks unlikely that he’ll be part of the competition next year, however a return is always possible…

38 (46) Fiz Brown 8.77% (Round 1)

Next up and with a 6 place rise, it’s Fiz Brown! I’m gonna have a little bit of a rant here, and I absolutely love the character of Kirsty so I may be slightly biased here, but I think Fiz has come across absolutely despicably throughout the Kirsty/Tyrone storyline, and has almost ruined it for me. Tyrone has been the victim of Kirsty’s abuse so he has a reason to act the way he does, and he did actually show remorse for what he was doing during the fake wedding, however the way Fiz acted has been ridiculous. I think the whole nice thing is just a facade and she’s actually completely selfish, she wants Tyrone for herself and showed no remorse for what she was doing to Kirsty during the affair and fake wedding. She’s still yet to show any remorse for what she was planning to do and seems to think she’s some kind of saint, and has seemed to have completely forgotten that Kirsty is a human behaviour. Rant over, will Fiz be able to improve in my eyes next year?

Loved Lewis this year, his storylines with Aud and Gail were fantastic viewing, one of the few new characters introduced over the last year or so in Corrie that really worked!

ETA I cant stand Fizz either Niall!! And I think placing in the top 40 is a high ranking for her! The storyline with Tyrone has turned a fairly likeable character to very unlikeable one, thats for sure!

37 (32) Dennis Tanner 8.83% (Round 1)

In 37th and with a 5 place drop, we have Dennis Tanner. In both his years taking part in this competition I actually expected him to make the top 30, so it’s a little surprising for me that he ranked so low, however I guess he doesn’t exactly do that much on the show. Dennis finally settled down with Rita in 2012, there was a few fractures along the way and during the wedding day as always, however the wedding still went well and I thought it was a lovely episode! He hasn’t done a whole lot since then, mostly being in the background of scenes with other older characters, however it does seem like him and Rita are happy. Will Dennis finally be able to make the top 30 next year?

Yes, I agree with all this too. Very surprised Lewis wasn't higher, but as Niall says, it was probably the timing.

I think Niall should start all over again so that Lewis comes much higher.

And I agree about Fizzy and Tirrone, and Kirsty - fabulous actress is Natalie, the best in the programme.

I like Dennis, he has settled in nicely.

36 (N/A) Lloyd Mullaney 9.07% (Round 1)

In 36th place we have Lloyd Mullaney! Lloyd is down as N/A as he was on his break this time last year and I didn’t actually realise he was coming back However he ranked 38th in the 2011 competition, there were less characters in that competition so this is around the same place he got that time. I’ve always liked the character of Lloyd, he isn’t an amazing character, but I think he’s a really nice guy and means well, and this is probably around the right ranking for him. Lloyd has taken a new direction this week as he rekindled with old flame Mandy and found he has a daughter, Jenna. Most of his storylines have involved them two recently, however according to this poll they don’t seem to be the most popular

35 (36) Nick Tilsley 9.10% (Round 1)

In pretty much the same place as last year, it’s Nick Tilsley! It might be a little surprising to some people that Nick hasn’t moved much from last years rankings, as he has had a big year, but he was in a very strong heat and may have made the final 30 had he been in a weaker one, and he has done a lot better than he did in the competition 2 years ago. Lots of Nick’s year has involved his relationship with Leanne, who he eventually married this year after many setbacks. Nick now looks in a comfortable and happy position, despite the fact that his affair with Kylie is lingering over his head and he may be the father of her child! Will Nick still be as happy this time next year?

34 (42) Michelle Connor 9.16% (Round 1)

In 34th place and with her highest placing yet, it’s Michelle Connor! Although I despise Kym Marsh, I’ve always like the character of Michelle, so I’m glad she’s managed to rise in the rankings this year! I think the character of Michelle has really developed over the past year, taking over Underworld has definitely been good for the character and I really enjoy watching most of her scenes. I think her becoming landlady of the Rovers might have been a step too far though, so I’m glad those rumours seem to have been dispelled. Will Michelle strengthen even more over the coming year?

33 (48) Eva Price 9.44% (Round 1)

In 33rd place, and with a pretty big rise in ranking, it’s Eva Price! Eva has really strengthened as a character and started to fit in more over the year which is representative of her ranking, however I think a few people were disappointed that she did not make the top 30! I think Eva’s great as she’s very multi dimensional, she’s mostly a comedy character, however she’s shown she can do drama very well and can be a great bitch when she wants to! I think all she needs now is a solid storyline, and the character could be in for another big rise in ranking next year!

Haha sorry I can't, I like to drag out the suspense for as long as possible At least you know the 10 people who it's between though!

32 (33) Kirk Sutherland 9.52% (Round 1)

Next up, and pretty much standing still in the rankings, it’s Kirk Sutherland! Kirk performed very poorly and ranked only 49th 2 years ago, I’m a little surprised that he’s managed to rise so much as I don’t think the character’s particularly changed that much, however I’m glad he’s got this ranking as he’s a good character and he deserves it! Kirk’s a great comedy character, and we’ve seen him start a relationship with Beth over the past year, a relationship that I think works really well and I love watching their scenes! What will 2013 bring for Kirky?

31 (18) Sylvia Goodwin 10.21% (Round 1)

In 31st place, and just missing out on a place in the top 30, it’s Sylvia Goodwin! Sylvia had quite a big drop from her ranking last year, however she’s still done pretty well considering she spent most the year away and still hadn’t returned by her heat! We saw Sylvia happily start a relationship with Milton over the past year, however there’s not much more to say about her character, as I mentioned before she’s spent most of the year away! Sylvia is however a great character, which her recent scenes have proved, and I think Stephanie Cole is a brilliant actress. Will she be able to regain her top 30 placing next year?
