1 (7) Kylie Platt 722 Points (Final Round)
So she's done it, she's beaten all the other 65 characters to be named Your Favourite Coronation Street Character 2013! If you'd told me that Kylie would top the poll in two years when I first started this competition, there would have been no way I would have believed you! She only ranked at 41 and was generally quite an unpopular character, look where she is now! The Kylie and David pairing was a genius move from the producers I think, it thoroughly improved both characters and really brought something knew out of Kylie, that we as viewers had not seen before. I think the reason why Kylie's such a good character is because she has so many dimensions, she's by no means a perfect character, she makes many mistakes and can be quite aggressive with her words, however her heart's in the right place and she's a good person who cares about her husband and son, and that's the side of Kylie we all love. 2012 was a big year for Kylie, she developed even more as a character after becoming bar manager at the bistro, we've also seen her develop as a mother to Max and wife to David, and she even has another baby coming. However that does come with some trouble, as there is the possibility that the father of the baby may actually be David's brother, Nick! Kylie was somewhat the underdog in the final vote, she wasn't doing that well towards the beginning which surprised me as she'd topped the top 15, however she climed the rankings and made it in the end. She also only just made it in Round 2, coming 3rd in her heat, and the fact that she went on to win shows just how close and unpredictable voting was this year! I am really pleased that Kylie took it in the end though, for all the reasons I stated above and also the fact that Paula Lane is fantastic at playing Kylie! I also think it's pretty good that Kylie topped as a homeage to last year's winner, her sister Becky McDonald, who is no longer on the show Will Kylie be able to keep her number 1 position for next year's competition?

Thank you very much for doing the competition.
![]() Well done to Kylie - half-sister to Becky from last time - and to Royston and to Audrey; three completely different characters. Well done to all three.

Well done Kylie!! I had Aud and Kylie as my top two throughout this so thrilled with the result. Kylie is a truly fantastic character and as many have said very complex and interesting, in my opinion way better than Becky! But really happy to see her win, cant argue with Roy for second, he is a corrie ledge, and sooo delighted with Aud getting her well deserved high placing!
Huge thanks to Niall, another fab year, thanks for all the hard work! x |

So in the end only Kylie could follow in the footsteps of her sister, and beat all the 65 other characters in taking the coveted role of Your Favourite Coronation Street Character 2013! Will she keep it next year? Or will Carla gain momentum and regain her win from 2 years ago? Or will we have a completely new winner!
Secondly, a massive thank you to everyone who's taken the time to vote in any of the rounds, we've had a great amount of voters this year and we really couldn't do it without you! Also thanks to everyone who commented along with the results, it makes it much better and more enjoyable for me ![]() Here are the full results along with their rankings from last year... 1. Good result, a few characters too low but these tournaments always favour the younger cast so it's good therefore to see Audrey and the Croppers right up there.
Hope we don't have to rank them each time next year. I feel the results would be far more interesting if different voting methods were used along the way. |

Can't understand why anyone would vote for Kirsty. The girl who plays her may be a good actress, but surely it's about your favourite Corrie Character? I can't stand her and can see no redeeming qualities in her at all. Just want to see her get her comeuppance and get her off my screen. Have felt no sympathy with her whatsoever during the affair storyline, nor in the kidnapping of baby Ruby. Only wanted Fiz and Tyrone to get away from her, although of course they were never going to.
Edit: Have now read to the end and so delighted to see Kylie come out on top. Although I think you're spot on by saying a lot of the votes could be down to the timing of the poll. I think Kylie could have slipped a few places in the last week or so with her behaviour towards Gail and her involvement in Lewis' plot. I like all of the top 3 - Roy is slightly ruined for me by association with the ghastly Mary but his relationship with Hayley and generous attitude to the other characters are a joy to watch. Now, can the producers please take note and AXE SEAN !!! |

I actually prefer doing all the rounds ranking the characters, although I'll have a think and might change the format next year

The only character I voted for above Kirsty was Kylie. I think you can have a favourite character if you are completely convinced by them and engaged in their storylines. The brilliance of Kirsty is that I absolutey hate her for the way she has abused Tyrone and fooled all of his friends but still manage to have some sympathy for her as Natalie Gumede manages to show the pain she is suffering inside as she goes through the emotional turmoil that leads to the abuse. I was actually surprised she didn't finish higher.
Edit: Have now read to the end and so delighted to see Kylie come out on top. Although I think you're spot on by saying a lot of the votes could be down to the timing of the poll. Now, can the producers please take note and AXE SEAN !!! I vote for Roy & Steve because they are my favourite characters - but for Kylie because she played a multi dimensional character really well. I think I also forgot to say thanks to Niall this time round for all his hard work. Thanks Niall! Already looking forward the next one.

It's still a few weeks away but just bumping this to confirm that I will be bringing this back for its 4th year starting on 1st January 2014, to see if Kylie can maintain her crown or if she'll be beaten!
Also if anyone see this, I just wanted to ask what people think about whether or not I should include Kevin and Ken in the competition? For Kevin he hasn't appeared for most of the year but he will be returning in the near future and he's still officially a cast member, whereas Ken appeared more than Kevin did this year however his future on the soap in uncertain as it stands, so I'm not sure whether it's right or not to include these two characters. In a bit of a quandary surround this so would appreciate if anyone reading this who has any interest in this competition could please tell me what they think I should do, thanks

I will be taking part in the voting this year, my favourite characters at the moment are Tina, David and Steve. Don't think Kevin and Ken should be included as they've barely featured this year due to real life circumstances.
