There is no way the "End-User" can upgrade the software, although a Nokia service centre shoule be able to. If it is still under warranty, take it back and get a new one...
just an addition, the older Nokias, eg 3310, 3330, 3410 could be upgraded, or "flashed" as its known, but I have no personal experience in flashing newer models... i can only unlock them...
Go to the Nokia website and locate your nearest Nokia dealer. Take it in and if your phone is 18 months old or less they will "flash" it for free. This will update/reinstall the OS on it.
If the software is "knackered" without any third party software installed on your phone take it back and they will replace it for you.

Neelix 3 or Twister probably your only route if you want to spend a few hundred on equipment.
Otherwise your local Nokia Service Point will do it for free, if there is a problem - eg the phone freezes or locks up during texting etc
