I think this is interesting, and a welcome competitor to the Roku & ATV devices.
If there was anything to go by, WD's official online shop showed this device with a screen full of apps, which incidentally included the BBC iPlayer (along with ABC's iView from Oz). Whether it is possible to mix and match apps from different regions is unknown, but obviously would give an interesting advantage to this device for those who use smart DNS's. Though, they have since changed this picture to one just showing US apps. It will be interesting to see what happens when it arrives in other countries, but if the Roku is anything to go by, we shouldn't expect anything but the iPlayer for some time. |

WD already had similar on the market, though. So the competition has always been there. WD are just upping their game.

Have to agree. It just looks like a tweaked GUI of the WDTV Live.
