I've had horse meat while staying in France a couple of times. It looks dark on the outside when roasted, but when sliced it is paler than beef but slightly darker than pork, and tastes kind of "sweeter" than any other meat I've tasted. Pleasant enough, but I think it's the idea more than anything else that would make it not a first choice for me on a menu!
One food I have never tasted and am curious about is vine leaves! They look so dark when I see them being served on tv, I just can't help but wonder if they taste similar to other leafy veg!
