I have ordered Youview from TalkTalk this morning and was wondering if anyone on here can give me some information about their on demand. It says that I would get unlimited access to 40,000 movies and tv shows but are these free or would I have to pay extra for them?

The only problem is remembering which episodes you've watched. The TalkTalk box doesn't mark on demand programmes as 'watched', so you have to write down which episodes you've seen - unless you've got a very good memory!

Thanks for the info, are the movies on lovefilm box office all the latest ones like on sky box office and if so how much are they?

The lovefilm offer was only for a limited period and its over now. And it was just the PC version anyway and not actually on the YouView box.

So you ordered something but you have no idea what it offers?

The box should be free so who cares, at worst its a free PVR

Ordered my self install YouView Monday and was delivered yesterday (Wednesday) by UK Mail. All tested OK and so far so good. Comes with all cables, Homeplugs, new router being delivered seperate. so using the original one for now, no problems.
For anyone thinking about this offer, it really is a no brainer.

I think there may be some confusion here. TalkTalk did run an offer for free LoveFilm INSTANT..

But TalkTalk's YouView box does provide access to LoveFilm BOX OFFICE offering movies on a pay-per-view basis.

It was free so I wasn't all that bothered but it does sound good

Yes it was the pay per view movies I wanted more info on like how new are they and what prices are they etc

2012 movies are usually £3.50, the older stuff is usually £2.50

As I said, nothing is free. Sure you may get a box for nothing, but Talk Talk will want to get their money back from somewhere. that box is about 300 quid, ok it have come down a bit in price and no doubt Talk talk gets it in bulk so it is cheaper again. so if Talk talk or BT for that matter is still charging the same for their broadband and now giving a box away, what are they going to get in return?

There is no compulsory subscription, ok they stick you for a 18 month contract, which keeps you with them, unless with talk talk you are already a customer and they put them on a 24 month contract. One way of keep you loyal i suppose.

There is also a £50 installation fee, or there was one anyway. they got to get that money back some how.

Still if you think it is for you then go for it, and I hope that it don't come back and bite you.

I was using them before and was told if I went for it they would charge me £50 but then put a £50 credit on my account that day. I was paying about £21 a month but now it is £30.45 but they added 6 calling features to which normally you have to pay for. I don't think it's bad to be honest and also soon I plan to pay my line rental yearly so then I am only left with £15.50 a month to pay.

As posted in another similar thread, I am an existing TT TV customer.
I received a new offer by email over the weekend fromTT, telling me the old TV service is being switched off next month, the new offer was NO installation fee and £5 discount on the first 12 months of an 18 month contract. This meant because I pay my one off line rental yearly, it works out at £9.50 a month, so add on the £10.50 for 12 months and this meant for exactly £20 a month, I would get TV/Boadband/Line Rental/24/7 Calls.

So, I telephoned TT last Monday PM and spoke to them, I was offered even more. I ended up with all the above plus free Homeplugs (which I use now value £35), free International calls to about 30 countries (value £3.50 a month), and a brand new router, all for £20 A MONTH.

Two days later on Wednesday, UK Mail courier delivered the self install package (I opted not to have an engineer), it contained everything, apart from the new router which is coming seperate. I had it all up and running in about 15 minutes. I added the Sky entertainment channels for the wife at £10 a month, which is what she had on the old system, but extra channels. So my grand total a month is now £30, which believe it or not is exactly 2 pence a month cheaper than my old system, and I am getting so, so much more.

I honestly do not know how they are doing it.

I get only evening/weekend calls and only up to 8mbs speed with post office for about £30pm!

I wonder if they would give me the same offer as yours for £20pm. Although our exchange is unbundled I have never been with TT before. All the scary horror stories I have heard about it put me off until now!

Are you happy with the picture quality of PVR? Is it reliable?

I have used all top PVRs in the past Humax/Topfield/Panasonic but never heard of Huawei before.

So you are paying more then? it is ok saying they added 6 calling features, but do you use them, do you need them?

It makes me wonder to be honest and to be honest it worries me about the future of broadband in this country. when you got companies like Bt, talk Talk and Sky giving these services at such a low price, I wonder how long the smaller Isps will keep going for.

i know Sky makes a lot of their money on their TV service, but then that is what they are a pay Tv service, the only reason they got into broadband was so their Tv service seemed better value, but look at how the prices have gone up over the last few years.

We went the same way with supermarkets and not go very few small shops and look at the mess that have cause.

If we only had 3 or four major ISps offering these services then they would put their price up to what ever they want, you only have to look at Sky Tv because they got no competition, even with you view they still got no competition
