Wow, a thread dedicated to Three Bashing.
I am quite happy this thread's here though as it was me that started using the above term and it already appears that others in my place of work, local pub and now on DS are using it! Ok, so it's not a major acheivment, but it's amusing me.I won't try to intrude on this thread by stating how happy I am with Three, but thanks for using the term. A few Facts.
Yes 3 has its problems but.
EXAMINUS states 3 does not allow roaming on 3 pay. It does!. When ever you are out of a 3 (3g) signal area it roams to the 2.5g network. Which happens to be 02 (formally Cellnet, and I think that network is C___P) (Thanks to the demerger and flotation I own shares in MM02) But at the end of the day THREE has the largest 3g network. 80% of the country as of DEC 2004. Also I had a problem in August that lasted 3 weeks which ment I could not make a call without manually switching my phone to use the 2.5 g network.(takes several minutes each time) The problem was initially (within 3 hours) diagnosed by 3 but they refused to accept the diagnosis. So I had 3 weeks of shit before the fault that had been previously diagnosed was fixed. They then sent me a replacement sim card and I followed the enclosed instructions. 3 days later the sim had not activated so i contacted 3 who said the instructions they had supplied were incorrect. They did not offer me any form or compensation. Even though I had to buy another mobile to cover that failure period. I have contacted 3 customer services on many occasions and they are polite but still C----P. NEVER in ten years of using GSM 900 and 1800 networks have i made so many calls to my mobile provider as i have done in the last 6 months with 3. This evening i took a pic which i tried to mms,it failed. CS could not tell me how to fix the problem but refered me to the three.co.uk web site which failed to tell me how to fix the problem. At the end of the day the only thing that 3(three) has going for it is the LOW cost of the telephone calls be it to landline or mobile. Otherwise its is C---P. Remember there is Orange and Voda and in Jan t-mob |

I binned my damn 3 handset and got a phone on virgin instead. Call centres were useless, phone's software was rubbish, 3mail was abysmal, topups expired after 30 days, couldn't do roaming, f*ck three! idiots..

I'd rather pay a little extra for a better service than have crap service hence the reason why i'm going back to Virgin. |

Re Roaming Abroad.
I did not mean to offend "examinus"
It is strange that clearly states on the three.co.uk web site that if you are going abroad you can take your 3 3g handset and it will work in exess of 100 contries abroad. I cant remember the exact number but i think it may be 140. However you need to notify 3 of this several day in advance of the trip so they can make changes / updates to there system. And in the case of Orange the mobile phone has to be in use in its home country for this update/change to take place. ie you cant go to germany and phone 3 from there and ask them to enable international roaming from there. If you have done this and you go abroad to a country that 3 advertise as having a roaming agreement with and your phone does not work there. You can claim compensation from your mobile provider. In this case 3. As the end of the day 3 is still wap sorry forgot the "C" REgards Michael |

I do not have any evidance to support what i am about to say " But NO MOBILE telephone company would allow / enable international roaming for customers on pre pay who use vouchers to credit there account"
The reason for this is that it can take weeks for theInternational Roaming partner to infor the UK Mobile operator of the charges run up in that country" If one is using prepay vouchers to credit your phone it would be possible to run up tens, or hundreeds or thousands of pounds of calls before your mobile company was informed of this by the roaming mobile company and was able to deduct the charges from your prepay voucher credit. Which would be great if you have only put £15 on the account and then stop using it. |

What I dont like and what I discovered yesterday is that if you send email from your 3 phone, your 3 mobile phone number can be discovered by any half intelligent person. Now that I dont like.

If you send an email from your PC it will include your IP address that could allow people to identify you. I admit it's easier to trace someone with their phone number, but it's not suprising really. Maybe it could be worth speaking to Three and telling them that you are concerned that your mobile number is included in your emails? |
