Mobile Phone Insurance

Hi all,

Im not completely new here, I was registered but couldn't get logged in so had to start again!

I am looking for UK mobile insurance and wondered if anyone here has any opinions on the best 3rd party providers (gadget-cover, protectyourbubble etc etc).
I'd really like to hear from anyone who has had to claim and see what your experience was like, as this is the acid test for Insurance I guess!

I am with Orange and had their insurance on my last contract, but as they now want £10 pm plus a £50 excess I am looking elsewhere. Gadget-cover.com seemed to be the cheapest, but I dunno what they are really like as can't find any reviews which include info on a claim.

Any pointers would be appreciated.

Thanks

Are you covered by any house insurance? I had a phone stolen whilst I was out and about, and was surprised that it was covered, when I hadn't really expected to be.

I do have home insurance but I wanted to keep the two separate in case I have to make a claim - I don't want it to affect the overall household policy.

Check if your bank account has Insurance.

And why pay more when you are already paying on your house insurance? That defeats the object of having Insurance in the first place if you're never going to claim on it when needed. It's throwing good money after bad.

Also, Google protectyourbubble. You'll be surprised at how shit they actually are.

Check HERE for details on different Insurances.

Thanks Artnada.

I have broken at least one phone on every contract over the last few years - they don't make them like they used too - and thats why I wasn't so keen on using the house insurance as the policy would go up if I needed to claim. Bank insurance seems very good, but its £15 pm, yes it comes with some other stuff like Travel Insurance and AA, but I don't need these, so that makes it very expensive.

I have looked at the specific insurance and see many negatives, but haven't found much in the way of testimonials from user's who have claimed, hence my question here (and on other forums).
