Hello everybody, don't know if I'm remembered but used to post here so thought I'd swing by.
I'm loading the Russian documentary from yesterday, getting ready for a bleak night I'm sure!

No I remember you, the dirty top?
![]() ![]() But in all seriousness I'm kind of speechless after that documentary. It just seems like another world, from 50 years ago. I really hope there's some sort of intervention in Russia soon. It was just upsetting, and when she said there were HUNDREDS of attacks like that. It's horrible. |

Saw a very sweet story about a gay mans struggle to become a dad. He kept a diary called seventh time lucky. It documents his disappointment etc.
Long story short his daughter is now four <3 |

Mark it was a feature story on STV news (Scottish ITV) his diary is called "7th Time Lucky", the story was about 2 minutes long but I'm sure if you 7th Time Lucky with some obvious key words like 'gay father' then you would find it.
I was using my phone last night so I was complacent

I just googled it and it's actually on amazon, I might buy it.
I have a recurring dream that I'm a single father to two mixed race kids (adorable) and I really want that to be reality even though I don't like children very much. It's strange. |

^Thanks .. I'll have to look it up.
![]() .. Have to say I'm disgusted that Clare Balding has had Twitter abuse over her presenting for Auntie in Sochi. I think her defiance in attenting speaks more than just staying at home. After all the RF won't chance its laws just because some journalist stayed at home. |

Forgive me for posting here. It is a bit of politics, sport, media and art, but having watched a recent documentary called the hunt about Russia and its abhorent attitudes to LGBT adults. No mention here or elsewhere on this forum. Why not? What the hell is the matter with people in this country?
I was going to post a poem, this is the LGBT thread, does no one give a damn about persecution of the LGBT community in Russia where all eyes are pointed at TV's going ahh what lovely fireworks and Russian adults who identify with the LBGT communtiy are being persecuted. I am so upset and I am happy to say I shall not at all be watching this charade of an Olympic games in a country where it is not jews aka 1938 who are being persecuted but LGBT adults. Why is nothing being said

No need to apologise for posting, we're a pretty welcoming bunch.
It is frustrating, but there has been plenty said in the media. Its just that its hardly making any real difference in the RF. Its a bit loose-loose at the moment. Say two gay athletes are on the podium and decided to kiss in protest - that would only get a "urgh gays" response from the Russian media and would not pave the way to a more liberal stance. Likewise doing nothing would achieve just as little. I do think that the IOC should have done something, but they do try to remain out of politics. Don't forget though that things can change. Look at Moscow '80 or Sarajevo '84 both held 'behind' the Iron Curtain. Maybe the games did their part in helping those countries but it certainly wasn't done overnight. |
