I don't Ludwig but thank you for your pre-birthday wishes

Got a lovely week coming up, college tomorrow & Tuesday. Then going out with my bestie & our college mates for lunch for my birthday. Plus pancakes!! Wednesday I should be in placement but visiting a university and hopefully seeing my Dad. Thursday will be spent at college doing assignments no doubt and then Friday is finally my birthday & at a special needs school that I'm doing a voluntary placement at. One of the staff said they'll make it a good day bless 'em. Plus it's world book day

It's not very neighborly to want to deny rights to people either, if that idiot hasn't noticed..

I'm a bit surprised over the flack Ellen DeGeneres got over that joke about Liza Minelli. Sure it was rude but I don't think it was in any way 'transphobic".

I've not heard about that, but it does surprise me. Tbh, Ellen could decapitate me, bounce my head around like a basket ball, and slam dunk my head into her garbage disposal and I'd still love her!

I've now seen the joke and think this is an overreaction, but then I guess it's difficult to put myself in th shoes of someone who suffers with gender dysphoria. I also love Ellen so I'm hugely biased. She's done those sorts of jokes for a while and they're not intended with malice. However, in situations like this intent is irrelevant, and I think I might take some advice from people in the know so to speak .

^True, I'm the same, I don't know what its like either, but you can tell the joke was just a riff on the fact that Liza (like many a 'gay icon') has so many male impersonators.

Like I said, it was more rude to Liza than to anyone that's trans.

Sometimes I think people like to whip up controversy and make mountains out of molehills.

Yeah but for a while trans voices have been ignored in the LGBT community, at least in the U.K, look at Stonewall, who refused to acknowledge them, despite the ****ing Stonewall riots being trans led! They're also the most visible part of our community, so come in for abuse a lot more frequently, there's definitely casual homophobia, so I imagine casual transphobia exists, and I'm not about to argue with a transperson about what constitutes transphobia..

Odd that Stonewall didn't acknowledge them. Do they recognise them now?

Since Summerskill stepped down, there is talk of it, but I'm not sure talk is enough.

Definitely a lot of transphobia around, it's like the last acceptable prejudice in the LGBT community. At least it's like this in Scotland it would seem.

Funnily you should mention casual homopobia because I have two friends at college who really detest each other, one's a straight guy, the other a lesbian, and it's a long story why they hate each other but he referred to her as a "creepy lesbian stalker" when she wasn't in the class. I took issue with it and he didn't seem to understand that using the word "lesbian" in a negative connotation like that is potentially homophobic.

It's annoying because I always end up being made to feel as if I'm uptight, when really that's not the case.

People always try to turn it around talking about over sensitivity or such bullshit, but at the end of the day, why did he need to prefix stalker with lesbian, there was no need, it doesn't add anything to the description. Tbh, saying anything behind her back is frankly rude anyway.

I'm starting to find him toxic now, this guy is the same guy I complained about inappropriately touching me all the time. His sarcasm is grating and that alone without the homophobia is enough for me to end the friendship.

And that was exactly what I was getting at too, and he did apologize but I'm not sure how genuine it was.

I hate fake people like that, well not hate, hate requires more effort than I'm willing to give them, I just genuinely don't care for them..

Well, I'm not a top but when one of the others comes along they might take advantage of that .

It's annoying, because I can have a good natter with him but no doubt he has some horrible qualities. Not just annoying, but actually horrible.
