Gaydar is just confirmation bias in action.
Of course mine is obviously 100% accurate. I wish mine was. LMAO... My Gaydar is about seeing the little tell-tale signs and usually the clincher comes in the eye contact. Catch a girl's eye and I pretty much know in that instant. Sometimes I indulge in wishful thinking, which isn't Gaydar but as fantasies go is pretty harmless as long as it stays in the realms of fantasy. Which it does. Wishful thinking usually occurs when the girl is really cute...... and is a redhead. I like redheads. A lot. |

Nice one Marvel! It maybe just in a video game, but they've added another LGBT character; Brian Falsworth, aka 'Union Jack'.

^I wouldn't say they are outwardly promoting "straight is normal", but rather just following what 99% of media outlets have done for the last 90 years. In fact its' probably only been since the turn of this century that LGBT characters have been seen/been more prominant in mainstream productions.
Change is sometimes a slow process. |

Wow, I'm probably behind the times, but apparently they're going to do a film adaptation of Wicked. (due December '19).

This year???? Any movie version of a musical is good news....
I love the "live performance" atmosphere and feel of a stage production and also, you're not subjected to a half hour of advertisements and trailers played in Dolby-Eardrum-Destruction mix, at the sort of decibel levels usually associated with a space shuttle launch. OK, so I'm exaggerating a tad, but you get my drift. |

Good for Ryan.
"Suffocating in the closet" is something we all remember the feeling of, and right now he'll be loving the free air of being out at last. Do you remember what that was like for you all...? I do. Again... good for Ryan. Pleased for him. |

I dont really have that. I just remember that I didn't fully I realise I was interested in men until I slept with one for the first time. Not long after that I shacked up with a guy and ended up being shoved out the closet by a family member. But it all worked out for the best, most people, even people I used to really clash with were very accepting of it. This all happened when I was 14 and 15. I think I might have stayed in the closet another year otherwise.
How about the rest of you? I came out after I met "The One" at uni. I had only been in one relationship with another female before that, and she was a classmate at school. After we split up I went into denial which was hell. Looking back it all seems so stupid but at the time I truly believed I was going through some sort of phase from which I would wake up one morning and be "normal" like everybody else. It doesn't work like that, does it..?? In the end, when I met the girl I'm now married to, it was like the penny finally dropped and after I dipped my toe in the water by first coming out to my uni housemates and being relieved that they didn't want to have me tarred, feathered and run out of town, I summoned up the courage to take my girl home to meet my family for the weekend..... took a deep breath.... and went for it. Best thing I ever did. |

Sounds like everything's worked out brilliant for you Cornie. How long have you been hitched for?
![]() We tied the knot in the February after CPA was enacted. It was a really happy day and we've never looked back. The straights who were waiting outside to partake in their ceremony after ours were curious and a bit bemused more than anything else, possibly because same sex marriages were still quite a new thing and probably none of them had ever seen one before. But nobody said anything negative and some even wished us well so that was nice. Are you married too, BB..? |

I'd have to meet someone I could bear to be around or more likely someone to take me on first. I'm not in a hurry either, I wouldn't like to be married or even engaged before I'm 25. That said I nearly said yes to a proposal to my ex when I was 17 ![]() Have you and your Missus been together a long time too?

That's lovely Cornie! And i think most heterosexual people on a whole advocate for homosexuals to have those same rights to or at least are accepting of it. I have a friend who is a devout christian but can't wait to see me get hitched and would love to be involved in the planning of it etc.

After graduation, by which time our relationship was really solid, I moved to Cornwall (where she originally came from) rather than she move to London (where I originate from). It was the best move I ever made. I've completely embraced my new home and love it so much I can't imagine ever wanting to live anywhere else. It's nice that you have a Christian friend who is accepting. I think the vast majority of Christians are. True Christians, that is. There are those who like to "wear the badge" and tell the world how holy they are, but I think many of those are superficial. They like to be associated with something that they don't truly understand in any real depth. Most Christians I know of.... and people of other faiths too.... are good, decent people who believe in inclusion and see us for who we are rather than how we've been hard-wired by nature. I think you will one day find your true love. I know it's a cliche, but I think there really is somebody for everybody out there. When you do find him, it will be the greatest day of your life and I wish you luck in making it soon. 25 is as good an age as any to tie the knot, but the age or time doesn't really matter, I think. What really matters is that you both feel ready. Take care and be happy Regards |

^A quote from a movie I saw recently...
"You may have to walk past a million faces to find the right one, but when you do, that millonth person will be someone truly special" Or something like that. I can't remember it verbatum. |

I know it isn't big or clever to indulge in schadenfreud but I can't help myself in regard to the Russian athletes being banned from the Olympics.
Russian pole vaulter Yelena Isenbayeva is one of those banned from the Games, and is appealing against the ban. She won the women's pole vault gold medal at London 2012 and won't now be able to defend her title. But should she have won it in the first place...? The evidence suggests her medal is tainted. But at the time, rather than be magnanimous in victory to other athletes in the competition, she had some pretty unpleasant things to say. She said (without naming any names) that homosexuals should not be allowed to compete at the Olympics because we are "unnatural". She stopped short of saying "unclean" but she has made that sort of allusion during other interviews back in Mother Russia. Now... of course, she is entitled to her opinion, but I would have this to say to Ms Isenbayeva: The International Olympic Committee has no law against gay men and lesbians competing at the Olympics. But it has got a shedload of very good laws against drugs cheats. Which is why gays will be in Rio. And you won't. |

Whilst we're talking sports....
I applaued the NBA for making a stand for LGBT rights and moving the '17 All-Star Game from Charlotte, NC in protest over the state's 'bathroom bill'. However its a real shame for those fans who wanted to go to the game and do not approve of the bill. Here's hoping that things will be righted and the ASG will return to the 'Queen City' in '19. |

Might even be more fun than the Olympics - especially as from what I read some of these trans athletes feel inclined to hold back from winning for fear of the comments and public outrage that it would inevitably create if they did and their status inevitably given the full tabloid treatment. Must be very frustrating for any athlete. |
