Just read some of the excerpts comments in the Showbiz section from the "twitter fight" between The Wanted and One Direction members and something jumped out at me...

That kind of surprised me. Certainly 'on the nose' for those of us who can get the implication of those hashtags - even if its just stupid name calling and has no basis in fact. Now I know that any numpty can imply and say stupid things about anyone else the web, but what surprised me was such a thing between two people who are famous.

I'm not making this about either party, but rather intrigued to what you all think of one 'celeb' implying this about another?

And in a wider context (and this is specifically not about these two) what's the thread's opinion on a person who it out trying to out a closeted one? If the intention to help this person is from a good place is it right or wrong?

It's wrong, outing someone isn't clever, big, or helpful. People should have the right to make a decision to come out themselves.

That being said, I can guess the two involved, and I think it's bang out of order to suggest it, and is quite disrespectful to the recipients girlfriend!

I actually caught the twitter spat between the two (Louis Tomlinson and Tom Parker) and found it a tad below the belt for Tom to imply such a thing with the tweet.

However, both parties tweeted extremely immature messages to each other in their little spat and both crossed the line. When I saw them, my immediate thought was along the lines of 'sticks and stones' and - though this is still no justification for what was tweeted - I'm sure that Louis will have read a lot worse about him previously than this wise ass remark and likely will have just let it wash over him.

Regardless on the intent, I do not think it a good idea to out anyone else or attempt to do so. Those of us who have been through that "coming out" phase (in whatever way it happened for us) know how it feels leading up to finally accepting yourself and being able and ready and willing to tell others of this. As such, having been through those emotions themselves, people shouldn't presume to know when is best to do that on behalf of anyone else etc. I strongly believe it is an individuals choice if, or when, they decide to "come out" and it is only that individual that will know when is the right time for them to do so

And when it comes to outing someone, whether he is right or wrong, it's just not okay and shows him to be quite a nasty person.

In conclusion, they suck.

That one one of the things that surprised me, particularly saying it in such a public medium.

Joan Rivers, for example, makes no end of jokes about a certain actor (best known for a '70's musical film) on her show which is surprising that she can get away with it. Almost as if its an open secret in Tinsel Town. Whether its true or not is besides the point really.

Now I can sort of see that what she does on the show is intended as humour, and can be (whether you agree with it or now) classed as such. However that's virtually worlds apart from from this Twitter thing. Even if its intent was to raise a laugh, its not easy to tell in text form, plus the author is not known as a professional comedian.

While neither are correct, the latter is certainly more harmful, especially as its quite close to the school yard attitude of "eerrrrrr yer gay" which you would have hoped we were slowly moving away from.

So basically, I've booked up flights to Malmo, Sweden for Eurovision and I've got tickets to the rehearsal of the final (final tickets booked out). couldn't resist. Only trouble is, all accommodation is fully fecking crammed. Oooops.

Does that mean you'll be sleeping rough in Sweden?

Probably colder but safer in Sweden. At least you can have a piece of mind you won't wake up naked and with your tickets gone.

I'll just have to go on the pull to get a bed to sleep in.
