I can never read them quickly enough, I'd like to hear everything that's written of them, just in the interests of balance really.

Going back to John's furniture, I didn't mind that dressing table at all. It was the best quality item in the room to be fair. The wardrobe looked like firewood to me.
But you can't just throw any random stuff together, the cheapest stuff you can find, and expect it to do the job. Not when you call yourself a Hotel.

Why don't you watch on Channel 4 +1?

Well, I love The Big Bang Theory which is on at 6 pm and since I assumed I'd be able to watch Four in a bed on 4OD I chose to watch that instead. Of course, if I'd known that I wouldn't be able to watch Four in a bed on 4OD I would have watched it on Channel 4 + 1 and then watched The Big Bang Theory at 7pm on E4 +1.

I think it's repeated on 4seven tomorrow morning. They usually repeat them the next day on 4seven.

I could see the John of the TA comments clearly tonight. He doesn't want to accept any criticism as valid. His place was exactly the sort of hotel I really don't like - shabby, run-down, amateur-looking. Give me the impersonality of a bigger hotel any time.

It's further west than my usual stamping ground, but I have been in that shop, though it's a while ago and I don't remember much about it, so I am unable to send any sausage bulletins!

I actually like Nick best this week, Gloria is not a very nice person another one of those who thinks no-one has a right to criticise her place or have different tastes.

There are lots of beautiful Victorian B&B's in Llandudno and this dump is not a representation of them.
Wonder how much different it will be when the updating has been done - looking by the rooms today's guests were given not much I would think.

So far, I like Nick & John. Gloria has more money than taste and is backbiting at Nick for nothing really. Angie has changed throughout the week from awe and tears at Nick and Gloria's places to being petulant and spiteful at John's place.

Just read John replies on TA. I think he's hilarious.

Nick is one the fairest people that has appeared on this show. Even if he isn't keen on a place (such as today) he is still very positive and gives feedback on how to improve.

Gloria, on the other hand, can't handle fair criticism. One of many that has appeared on this show.

I agree with Apple Crumble. I think Nick's fallen into the trap of being honest and trying to be helpful. Without seeing all his comments it's hard to tell, but he seems that type - just offering up what he's noticed and allowing them to either take it on board or ignore.
Gloria is unable to see that anyone might think differently from her, or not appreciate the heights of luxury that they provide at 'Windy Bottom'
For me, that says it all really. Windy Bottom, we obviously don't think along the same lines at all


I think you're right. It seems that most of the work is absolutely essential repairs and I imagine any refurb work will be essential to be able to let the rooms again, not cosmetic updating.

Do you think so? I see him as fair, and not bitchy at all. I don't think he realises how some will react - Gloria mainly - and is being honest. Her objections to him seem completely unfair, and based on the fact that he doesn't share her taste, though I can't think of may people who would.

Do you think? can you give any examples as I can't say I've seen him in that light. What makes you say that?

I have stayed a few times in Llandudno, and we did have a good B&B there, though this is ages ago. I would be OK with a personally run good B&B. or a proper chain hotel (can't afford the posh ones) but hotels like John's miss the mark for me - the worst of both worlds.

I think the updating is going to deliver more of the same!

See I didn't hear anything wrong with that, I thought it was actually John who was being snide by criticizing the tomatoes on the vine, the way he held them up and went on about them as though they were something never seen before.
I thought Nick was speaking up in defence of Gloria at that point so I didn't make anything of it.

I know we've all put our two pennorth in about tomato likes and dislikes, but honestly, what was John's point?
Was it in reference to him saying that the tinned tomatoes he serves are 'fresh' and him using attack as defence?
I can't quite remember now.

I thought John was making a joke about which branch did his tomatoes come from, only for Nick to condescendingly point out 'they're vine tomatoes' and John said oh fancy in my place we serve italian peeled, only for Nick to push him on wether they came from a tin (like there's anything wrong with that??) then make the remark about tomatoes looking like tomatoes.
There was also a remark he made to someone in yesterday's programme which caught my ears, and make me think oh what a pompous so and so. But I can't remember what it was now

Crikey Sheddy that all sounds quite complicated, to pick up the nuances etc. I mean.
I think it must have been the result of some ongoing niggling.

For me, John covers up what he perceives as the inadequacies of his own place, by turning up his nose at the others'
- much as we see in his responses to poor reviews on TA.
His 'humour' just doesn't work for me I'm afraid and I think I'd find him very wearing to be around.

We'll probably see more on tonight's show don't you think? and as per usual, the payments they give will show a much clearer idea of what the guests are really like, than the comments they've left or made to each other.

I think John is also hateful, obviously can't take criticism, and his hotel is a higgledy-piggeldy mishmash of tat. Gloria and her 'the showers too small, i'm not too fat' husband prove that money can't buy taste. Pink haired woman is also a wishwashy game player.
Only decent one is pink woman's husband this week.

I kind of agree with you sheddy about Nick. He seems to have a superiority complex and is rather smug at times.

I don't expect the denouement will be anything less than catty and childish but I do hope they all get involved.

If it is dragged down to fisticuffs level, I don't mind. I don't really like any of them and certainly wouldn't want to stay at any of their places.:yawn:
