Surely ITV will show the Spurs and Liverpool 2nd legs after tonights results.

Thursday 14th February - ITV & ITV4

UEFA Europa League Live

Matt Smith presented from White Hart Lane alongside Gordon Strachan and Gareth Southgate

Zenit Saint Petersburg v Liverpool (ITV4) - Peter Drury and Jim Beglin
Tottenham Hotspur v Olympique Lyonnais (ITV) - Clive Tyldesley and Andy Townsend, with Ned Boulting conducting interviews

The only downside of the main game being on ITV rather than ITV4 was that we didn't have a full half hour of post-match reaction meaning we didn't get proper highlights from the other two games involving the British clubs, we just got to see the (disallowed) goals from Chelsea and Newcastle. On the plus side, I really enjoyed Ned's interview feature with Lewis Holtby between the two matches, so much so that I didn't mind watching it twice! For those wondering, Peter handled the interviews in Saint Petersburg.

"It's a good time to be involved in TV football with American network NBC, who have US rights next season, scouting for production staff and on-air talent while BT Sport are also recruiting. Favourite to be NBC’s lead commentator is Arlo White, a former member of the BBC Test Match Special team who left to become in-house commentator for Seattle Sounders and was subsequently signed by NBC for Major League Soccer coverage."

Wouldn't be shocked if Arlo White was the NBC comm. He'd move back to England (where his family still lives) and JP Dellacamera would probably just hop right back on MLS and USMNT duties like he used to have on ESPN.

They already have Robbie Earle so they could just have him as co-comm.

Live Europa League Round of 32 2nd Leg's confirmed:

ITV 4 - Lyon v Tottenham (6pm)
ITV - Liverpool v Zenit (8:05pm)

ESPN - Metalist Kharkiv v Newcastle (6pm)
ESPN - Chelsea v Sparta Prague (8:05pm)

It will therefore be interesting to see how ITV present this. Will Matt Smith present both matches again? If so, how will they cope with the switch to ITV as the Spurs game will still be going on at 7:45pm when the ITV coverage begins, with the ITV 4 coverage not finishing until 8pm?

How will that work? Will the ITV coverage start by showing the last few minutes of the Spurs game? Matt could introduce things on ITV, maybe show a clip of any goals so far and then go live for the last few minutes of the Spurs game. Also, what would happen if the Spurs game went to extra time? How would Matt anchor 2 games on 2 different channels at the same time? Or would the commentators just take over?

Presumably what with adverts and stuff it'll be easy to deal with, they're at Anfield so they can just do build-up and interviews for the Liverpool game, and then presumably time the adverts so they're on a break on ITV while they're wrapping up on ITV4.

There was a bit someone I know used to mention from the mid-nineties where the Beeb were showing a Chelsea Cup Winners Cup match with the first half on BBC2 and the second half on BBC1, and for some reason the timing was a bit wayward so while the second half started on BBC1, they had to sit there for another minute on BBC2 talking about the match everyone had just switched over for.

Anyway, Tranmere vs Shrewsbury on Sky with the usual Football League gang - Thomas, Beagrie, Leslie, Hinchcliffe.

Last time ITV had this situation, in the qualifying round about three years back they came back after the ad break on ITV4's earlier match with the commentators still talking. It's a while back, but I think they voiced over a couple of highlights and went to an interview, which is plenty to take you through to the top of the hour.

Considering that he was coming to the end of his shelf life at Sky anyway, even before last year's controversy that led to him leaving, Richard Keys hasn't really done badly for himself has he?

Still gets to present a shedload of live football with a daily national radio gig thrown in for good measure.

At the end od the day he's a great presenter and probably, like you say is now better off with the amount of stuff he actually does and is probably earning more money.

Good luck to him!!

Wrexham V Gainsborough Trinity (FA Trophy Semi Final 1st leg)

S4C - Dylan Ebenezer hosting from the Glyndŵr University Racecourse Stadium with Dai Davies and John Hartson. Commentary is from Nic Parry and Malcolm Allen. English language commentary is from Bryn Tomos and Waynne Phillips

I've got a feeling someone somewhere this weekend will do the 'Harlem Shake' (<- my link) after they score.

Would definitely doubt the money bit to be honest. In terms of profile I think he was probably doing better at Sky. That said, considering the way in which he left Sky I'd agree he's done reasonably well - it could certainly have been a lot worse for him.

People do perceive on Twitter that he was also sacked. Personally, I think Keys would have done great with Gary Neville too and I could easily see them having more Banter. Ed Chamberlain is very worthy though and should do all the games for Sky in the same way that Keys did. Why? Mainly because Dave Jones is awful. No Charisma and has dead eyes. Doesent seem at ease at all I'm afraid.

I thought splitting up the commentators would equate to different 'teams' in the Sky Camp depending on when the game would be, but this hasnt happened at all.

I do think Sky's way of doing things seem hackeneyed and flat. The Dolly birds on Sky reeks of conflict over what happened with Richard Keys and Andy Gray (especially when you see the blokes flirting with the women or in the case of Jim White's case, flirting with the woman from Sky Italia) - not much wrong with it of course but if you're going to sack someone for banter that occurs in every other workplace around the world, then you have to appear whiter than white.

It's funny how subjective these things can be. Personally I think David Jones is a decent presenter - he cracks a joke every now and again. He's certainly doesn't have "no charisma".

For me Ed Chamberlain is a safe pair of hands, but not an outstanding presenter. At times MNF can be a little too serious - Richard Keys would no doubt have provided a bit more of a laugh, although the current set-up on MNF gets the job done.
