Not really.
The first weekend in April is a very common date for people to retire, for obvious tax reasons.
He's not retiring though, just leaving 606

Massive game for him, perhaps his biggest away from Scotland.
Clearly Sky do have a lot of faith in him....great stuff!!
At least tonight no cutting over or made yelling if goal goes in.

I don't know if anyone else was watching on NOW TV tonight. It might be a one-off, but it was incredibly crap. Between 7pm and 8.10pm everything was fine. Then the stream cut out. It came back for the last 10 mins of the first half and half time, but we missed the entire 2nd half. Poor poor effort from Sky tonight.

From what I caught, Tyler and Provan are very good together. Just a shame I didn't get to see more!

I always enjoy Provan on co-comms but thinks he lacks a bit of that broadcasting X Factor. Gray has it, Quinn, Neville, Burley do, even Wilkins did. I struggled to hear him over the crowd noise sometimes.

I was really impressed by Bill Leslie on the JPT final though. He showed what a top broadcaster he is when explaining the minutes applause during the game, he asked questions of Birtles to explain his comments further and delivered a great, listenable commentary. We've often said he does better on the bigger games but I think he's having a great all round season and would like him to get a lot more PL games next year.

Glad Sky went with this pairing tonight. Think there Sky's best 2 commentators. It seems a bit strange though for Provan to suddenly go from 4th choice to getting the best games 2 weeks running! At no stage tonight did I feel irritated by the commentary unlike when someone like Quinn is commentating - Provan delivers an unobtrusive, analytical, likeable commentary.

Very good goal call from Tyler on Man City's second. I guess Sky will be glad City won as it should take the title race a bit further - although might make picks for the May games a bit more complicated. Do they risk picking the 2 Man City games and Man Utd V Swansea, even though it might all be over by that point? Personally I think I'd leave them out but will be interesting to see.

Made a bit of a mess of the final whistle, though, thinking it had gone about thirty seconds before it did. He wasn't the only one, though, they took the scoreline off at that point too.

Good to hear Davie Provan get the big game, I like how he's not a big name and has made it to the top after putting in the hours on the less glamorous games, like how Jim Beglin became the top name on ITV for a bit.

Forgot to mention my favourite thing at the weekend, Jeff Stelling's "Dan Walker has just finished presenting Football Focus and now he's scoring for Luton!"

Not sure where to put this but an interesting line from Charles Sale today suggesting that Virgin Media and Sky have yet to reach a carriage deal for Sky Sports next season - must admit I thought they had a long term deal tied up but apparently not.

Skyís concern over the threat from BT Sport is also understood to be part of the reason for the delay in agreeing a carriage deal with Virgin for their cable customers to access Premier League matches next season.

Sky, who had to pay far more than expected for PL rights because of BT Sportís entry into the market, need to recoup some of that cost by charging Virgin more for their platform contract. And they will be wary of Virgin bundling BT Sportís PL games into subscription offerings.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/art...RLES-SALE.html

Meanwhile Phil Neville, Jens Lehmann, Eidur Gudjohnsen and Jermaine Defoe (!) among the names they are suggesting are being considered by BT.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/foo...ole--want.html

Have heard good things about Lehmann but not sure if Phil will want to go head to head with Gary, or indeed if he will want to focus on coaching/playing. No mention of Carragher, looking like he will be joining Sky.
