You have to look at that figure and find out how many people can't actually get Destination America regardless of whether or not they might want to or not, so i don't think it's as cut and dried as people deciding the product "isn't worth paying for".

And when you're on a niche channel like that, the ratings are only really relevant to your direct competition, so as i said, as long as they're the top rated show on that channel then that's all that should matter.

I know they may still think they're competition to the WWE but they aren't and certainly won't ever be on their current channel so, in my very humble opinion, all the never-ending nonsense about ratings does is to re-enforce the negative opinion that the so-called "IWC" has of TNA and probably paints a misleading impression to the casual fan as well.
They are a TV show, TV shows have their ratings discussed. The nonsense is people can't discuss TNA's ratings without people getting upset.

If TNA don't want their ratings discussed, get off TV.

Ratings still pay the money when DA took over I would guess they were hoping for some to subscribe to their channel but nobody is if after a time DA does not think TNA is bringing enough viewers to be worth what they are paying them as eve if it's the highest rated show they could still be losing money if the advertisers are not paying enough back then they will dump it.

Why am i not surprised the ratings are still being picked over ?

As long as they're the highest rated program on Destination America, that's all that really matters.
Imagine talking about the ratings of a show after it debuts on a new channel after a highly publicised move. The horror!

TNA is a company that has always been obsessed with the short term and doing whatever they can to pop a rating so the fact that their ratings are often subject to close analysis is a product of their own making. I hate this idea that TNA get picked on by the IWC (an all but meaningless term seeing that we all are on the internet and we all know inside stuff about wrestling and we are not some hive mind like that term would suggest.) It just carries no weight.

Also, if TNA are on a low rent channel with way less viewers, that's hardly insignificant. If they're no.1 programme on a niche channel, they're a big fish in a tiny pond which equals less publicity for their product and in all likelihood way less money for the company. Considering that they have already done a ton of cost cutting in the last 18 months, that's pretty significant and is worthy of comment.

They couldn't afford to survive on the money Spike was giving them if rumours are true DA is giving them a quarter of what Spike did.

Plus Spike helped pay for some guys like Kurt-Jeff Hardy and Bobby Lasley off the books so now TNA has to pay them their full fee to

Something else some people forget or don't realise if it wasn't for Daddy's Billions TNA would have shut down years ago it's only because Dixie's Daddy keeps bailing her out it keeps going.

I can just see her like Hilary in Fresh Prince "Daddy I need a another million I have to sign some new guys and pay of the debts"

I think he only does it to shut her up and keep her out of his business or he may have to find her a job there.

Why doesn't DA put the TNA episodes (with adverts) on their website 24 / 48 hrs after the initial airring? ... (like spike did) so people without the necessary packages can watch?

They wouldn't get paid that way.

Anyway anyone wanting to watch it can always find a way to watch it for free

They'd get the advertising revenue tho surely? ... They'd even possibly get back the 650k TNA viewers!

Doing that they may as well make their channel free.

I really can't see them doing well as again not many are going to pay for the upgrade I wouldn't not for TNA anyway but I would for WWE or NJPW ROH Shimmer CMLL and many other groups but TNA is not worth it if it wasn't free I doubt I'd even care enough to download it.

Yep! ... I wouldn't fork out an extra $22 for DA either .... I only pay $18 for wwe network & hulu+

Apparantly Destination America are upset at people talking about the ratings online as these are apparantly not correct but infact the Twitter ratings. A press release will be released on Monday with the ratings.

There are two sets of ratings flying about. One is 263,000 and one is 359,000. If they are that upset maybe they should have put out a press release the day after ratings were released.

From what I've read, I'm led to believe that the higher figure is the actual rating, although this does not factor in the repeat showing.

Isn't even the higher rating less than half what they got on Spike

Watching the return of Impact tonight...I'm pretty excited, managed to avoid spoilers apart from one match. I really prefer the four sided ring though.

It won't be far off, But that is the point....Whether people like it or not they have gone downwards tv deal wise. Also they have now moved to a channel that not everyone has

As said people will not pay for a channel just to watch TNA, People who have the channel may watch but they won't make people buy the channel

Thats the reality of being in 40 million fewer homes. Wrestling fans tend to skew towards been poor in demographic analysis too, so a lot of their fans probably won't have the premium cable packages or whatever to get DA.
