The correct viewership seem to be 359.000 + 105.000 for the immediate replay (although apparently a lot of the 105.000 were around also for the "live" showing, so unfortunately they didn't get a lot of new viewers in the second viewing).
The problem with ratings is that this happened on a WEDNESDAY.
Impact is moving to FRIDAYS now, a terrible night for any tv program. If they keep this viewership is a major success, if they lose...it depends on how much they lose and how higher they stay compared to the network average.
And even if they do please the network they still make a lot less money than before (half of what Spike was giving them, and Spike was also paying the bills for live tapings and some talents' salaries, which is something DA is not doing and probably won't, considering TNA apparently doesn't even have a production truck now and seems to be going back to Universal Studios in Orlando for the next US tapings in march, april and may). IF (and that's a big if) they're gonna see advantages of this new partnership it's gonna be a long time from now, if they're able to float around obviously.

The darker lighting was apparently a experiment to put more emphasis on the ring action and less on the crowd, they are still working to find a good balance between what's in the ring and the crowd.
I tuned in for the Destination America debut after around a 4 month hiatus of not watching TNA, I liked some of what I saw but despite the promises of a rebooted product it seems little has changed. I had hoped for a few fresh faces on the roster to shake things up but the only newbie was Awesome Kong.
ECIII does need someone decent to work with, no idea why they turned Spud face, he was entertaining as Dixies heel lacky and seemed a natural fit for the character. Tyrus is awful but I can tolerate him if he mostly sticks to being a bodyguard. I do wonder if they don't have much confidence in ECIII's ring work as he mostly keeps to promos and hasn't been put in the ring with anyone of note for a while.
I don't mind the new MVP faction and turning EY heel is a good thing as I can't take him seriously as a top babyface, but again this would have been perfect to introduce some new blood, couldn't they have brought in some of MVP's buddies like Carlito and LAX? Instead they just use a couple of existing guys who they don't have any ideas for.

The complete apathy from Josh Matthews and the ring announcer after Lashley won was amazing. TNA crowned a new world champion and the people responsible for getting us to care about it couldn't give a toss.

There has been some mention in this thread about the microphones cutting out while the wrestlers were speaking. Not sure what the version on Challenge sounded like, but in the version I saw this was happening because the crowd was chanting phrases with a swear word included and they were trying to mute the sound for a moment each time in an attempt to remove the words which presumably are not allowed or desirable on the TV channels that the show goes out on.
This must be a bit of a problem for them. It is nice if the crowd chant "Holy sh*t" in appreciation of the spectacular spots but this is borderline forbidden. Obviously the chants of "Shut the f**k up" when the wrestler is speaking have to be dealt with somehow in post-production.
Reasonable Impact overall. I was glad they didn't prolong yet another storyline involving masks but the Low Ki, Joe and EY turn does seem a little strange. Shame we have lost Brittany just as she had become my favourite knockout.

Actually I thought these chants were very clear! And obviously Challenge did too as the continuity announcer before the show mentioned 'strong language' coming up - I don't recall them ever doing that before.
But I agree that the sound wasn't great all through - various mics didn't seem to be working terribly well and the crowd wasn't well recorded, leading to the whole show seeming quite flat. Strange really, as this is the same venue as they used last summer isn't it? And the crowd sounded great then.
And I must agree about the dull commentary from Josh Matthews - Tenay might have been annoying at times but he at least imparted a sense of urgency to the proceedings. Even Taz sounded fed up.

I don't believe that excuse for a second. Their last set of tapings on Spike were pretty dark too and the reason is obvious - they needed to cover up the amount of empty seats.
As for the show, not good. Kong was a nice surprise. I like her!.
The clip introing the X-division was good too. The show needed more of that if they really wanted to reboot and introduce themselves to a new audience. Instead, it was just the same old TNA.
The opening made no sense and Kurt Angle just looks sad and depressing at this point. Does he need the money or something?
And the ending was the usual TNA nonsense. A pointless swerve and now an evil heel faction on top AGAIN!

Especially when ROH is selling out regularly in the same city (in the Hammerstein and on Terminal 5 for Final Battle). It's a sign the brand is shot as far as credibility.
To be fair, the friday taping was sold out or at worst close to it. The thursday taping however was even worse than the one from the day before.

Watched the return of impact earlier this afternoon, the intro was rad, I really enjoyed watching it. Zema Ion aka DJ Z makes me laugh haha, shouting his head off.

I'd rather judge this weeks episode than last weeks because this Friday's episode is being advertised as the debut and it will also include all the backstage footage they shot for the show.
I have to say if they want to be more reality based they need to show more, not just Matt Conway and John Gaburak at the gorilla position. Let us see wrestlers arguing for their spots, talking to creative, getting drug tested, sit with them in the doctor's office. It's like Russo said, don't just be another fake wrestling show.
