The MVP one. So much for a product reboot. What's that saying about doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results?

The Hardy's match was canny! ... was quite surprised they beat the wolves!

Seriously the one thing they should have kept the old format to was James Storm he had one of the very best over popular and realistic gimmicks they ever had a ass kicking cowboy and turned him into a crappy 4th rate Bray Wyatt wannabe.

Why him because he had a beard and was from the south

Well they could stop doing variations on the exact same story over and over again...

wwe do exactly the same so its kinda unfair to criticise TNA imo! ... We're gonna get Bryan vs the authority yet again!

Its not a reboot of wrestling people were looking for though it was specifically a reboot of the TNA product. In fact not only were people looking for it they were repeatedly promised it and what's been delivered is more of the same. Of course it was perhaps stupid for anyone to think serious changes were going to be made at this point but what can you do.

WWE executives don't publicly do the rounds telling audiences that they're going to reboot their product. Nor has WWE found their flagship show booted off its network for poor ratings brought about entirely by a product that almost nobody has any interest in. The WWE product is bad until you compare it to TNA.

They've changed their logos that's a reboot in the executives eyes!

What TNA should have done is took this chance to change everything and go for a full on reboot

1) Made their mind up if it's TNA Wrestling or Impact Wrestling

2) Vacated all titles and started from scratch

3) Scrapped some gimmicks and all story lines again started from scratch

Bryan vs the Authority is a storyline that didn't even get to properly finish due to his injury and I reckon they'll transition it into his Mania feud anyway.

TNA has had a dominant heel faction as the main story for the majority of it's 13 years in existence. How many NWO knock-offs are they going to do before they realise it's a dead end?

TNA's formula heel group takes over TNA face group forms to beat heel group face group wins face group turns heel becomes new heel group.

Part of the problem is that (much like WCW) TNA have a roster that's way too big and that they just don't know what to do with but rather than cutting the roster down to size they just continue to group the guys up into random stables. I mean if you took away this latest stable how would you fit all those guys onto the show?

The general TNA/WCW overlap is actually pretty staggering at this point.

I'm still of the mind that they should have ditched both names and launched as a completely new company on Destination America.

It might be an interesting thing to tease out, that WCW overlap. I think Alvarez has a chapter on that in his revised Death of WCW, which I still have to read.

TNA would be the perfect show to strip back their roster and bring in indy geeks for squashes and short angles to build up their stars. So many people there just feel like they've been spinning their wheels for years, going nowhere. TNA always tries to run before it can walk. Simple, week to week booking would be a good move for them. But there's no point even saying this really because we know they'll never learn.

Overall I enjoyed Impact this week. It felt like another step in the right direction.

Good:

- Not pretending it's live. Structuring and contextualising the show more tightly via the Nashville segments.
- The more inventive backstage work. JB being challenged over the headset etc.
- Using the hardcam less. Gives the show a documentary look; makes the story of the matches clearer.
- I like the BDC. MVP is a great mouthpiece and they've quickly established themselves as credible and suitably reprehensible.
- Heel EY was great and it was surprising and refreshing to see him get the win over Roode. The finish of this match was excellent.
- The way they're laying their pieces out makes sense. Face Aries / Roode / Lashley vs heel MVP / Joe / EY. Relatively fresh and makes sense.

Bad:

- The revolution are a boring stable without a consistent look, or aim.
- Repeating matches. It's not long since we saw Hardy's / Wolves. We saw Aries / Low-ki last week!
- There's a lot of the roster more or less unused at the moment. I'd like to see more of them, and definitely not the same match in back-to-back episodes. In fact, I'd make that a booking rule - *never* repeat a match on back-to-back Impacts. In fact, maybe try not to have the same match within a month, unless there's a very good storyline reason.
- In fact, can we just drop the title rematch clause? Old school wrestling didn't have it. Just because WWE uses it, TNA don't have to. If you lose a title, tough - no automatic rematch. It kills the drama of title matches and means we end up seeing the same matches over and over again.
- The crowd are a little too dark for me. Although I see the point of this - it makes low attendances less of an issue.
- I'd like the stage videoscreen back. And for that matter, I'd like TNA to put together entrance videos which include footage, not just a repeating logo.

Do TNA have any PPV's scheduled in 2015?

No, none are scheduled right now. Dixie tweeted that they're planning "a few" live PPVs in 2015.

I presume they will keep the Slammiversary and Bound for Glory shows, even if they are just live TV shows on Destination America instead of actual PPV's.

TNA PPV's have never made money, they attract less than a tenth of what even the lowest drawing WWE PPV gets in buys so it's pretty certain TNA are losing money even on their biggest PPV Bound For Glory which is why the show was reduced to being a Japanese event last year, this was to help keep the costs down for TNA and attract a different audience, trouble is it had no connection with current TNA storylines or feuds and made a mockery of what is supposed to be their version of Wrestlemania.

The cull of PPV's to four per year was done to cut costs and to try and spark more interest in the remaining events through the year, that failed and the events drew as abysmally as before, so this year it would seem they are scrapping PPV's perhaps completely.

In honesty this is sensible, Destination America seem to be more flexible with the TV programming TNA put out so perhaps they could run extended three hour editions of Impact each month with a PPV theme rather than actual PPV events. This would compensate for no actual PPV's and allow the big pay offs for feuds etc.

I've watched the first two DA episodes and enjoyed them for the most part, TNA have some good talent capable of good storylines and matches, the problem is the product lacks originality and the credibility of TNA as a whole has been damaged by the crippling financial issues they had last year, so much though that a lot of talent apparently now consider working there a career killer, Alberto Del Rio was apparently offered a big money deal to come in on a light schedule but rejected it deciding Lucha Underground and ROH are better options right now.

The best thing for TNA right now would be some sort of merger with a company like New Japan, GFW or even Lucha Underground or ROH, it would allow a expanded roster, additional programming, a bigger fanbase and financial investment and more creative input.

Do they still have to tape the one night only shows to fulfill international TV commitments?

The idea of 3 hour Impact episodes branded as PPV's could work, or perhaps Destination America could give TNA a Sunday Night slot a few times a year for TV specials.

531,000 viewers for Impact in the US this week. Up 14% from the first show, and on a Friday too. Most sites were predicting a big drop since Friday is not usually a good night for TV.

This number also makes Impact Destination America's highest rated show.

That is a very good number. I think Destination America will support TNA and their shows.

Yes because we will REALLY fire someone and put that person out of a job and that makes us the better company

It's not even like they want to go from interviews I've read both Chavo and Daivari genuinely found out they were getting fired by getting told which briefcase they were going to end up with.
