“Lisa Marie Varon, who was formerly in TNA as Tara was recently on Jim Ross’ podcast. As we have seen from a lot of people who leave the company, she doesn’t have many favorable things to say about them. Here’s some ‘highlights':

“I wasn’t getting any respect from Dixie Carter. I promoted their Chicago show. I paid a publicist 2000 a month for 3 months to get that TNA show in chicago known.
I went to gyms and tanning salons to hang up flyers for the show. And the first flyer they sent me had another girl on it, and I’m the local girl and they can’t put my face on there?
I went up to Dixie one day and I said did you hear about all the stuff I’ve been doing to promote the show.
And she goes ‘yea, I’ve heard’. And I thought to myself oh are you kidding me? I’m out six grand promoting your show and it’s not my job, but I wanted the Chicago show to be big.

In talking to Bruce Prichard about Dixie Carter, she said that ‘the day I quit my job, I’m going to punch that **** in the face’ and Prichard apparently said “you’d be doing us all a favor”

In talking about Dixie Carter, Varon said ‘I’m not a fan – of course when I would do podcasts when I was working for TNA. I would say how great it is to have a female boss but I wanted to vomit in my mouth”

“WWE is very organized, they have a department for everything. When I was working for TNA, I once found out I was on a PPV via Twitter, and I was like ‘no, I haven’t got travel’. They don’t have the means or money for it and coming from WWE to TNA, it’s a big step down.

“When I do TNA night at my restaurant, I have to do drinks specials at my restaurant because no one comes in””

1) Dixie a millionaire or billionaire according to some let someone else pay for the promotion of a event and didn't even offer to give them any money back or even have them on the poster.

2) Lisa Marie Varon has to bribe people to go in on TNA nights (It is a wrestling themed restaurant) so if it's a PPV night she would have paid for the PPV and still had to bribe people to go and watch it for free.

I think she was also pissed because of the disrespect shown by Dixie and the company when they asked people to promote another restaurant. TNA is a disorganized mess, we know that, but even considering that it's mind numbing that they didn't even thank Victoria for the work done in Chicago for that show. You don't want to give her the money back? Fine, but at least thank her by promoting her place. Hell, WWE always mentions the Friendly Tap (the pub owned by Tim White) or the donuts shop owned by John Cone when they're in those cities, it doesn't cost them a dime and it's free advertising for people working for them, the fact that TNA went out of their way, according to Victoria, to promote OTHER places instead it's just sad.

I think in defence there is always two sides but if it's true, it's just plain horrible. Somebody pays $6000 to promote your event and the company sends you flyers with somebody else's face on them and you tell your staff to promote a different restaurant. Just nasty if it's true.

Yes I believe so but these are nice and cheap for TNA as they can tape the shows when they have a slot available at a arena and often bring non-contracted talent in for a one night deal.

Destination America seem happy to give TNA whatever they need so I think a exclusive to TV product could work if they will allow for a few 3 hour special edition's of Impact to replace PPV, if they could switch the night from Friday to a Sunday as well or run the show in addition to a regular episode of Impact that couldn't hurt.

I'm not sure where this idea that Destination America are happy to give TNA anything they want comes from. It should be noted that Destination America would have to pay for these extra shows. Unless at this point TNA is in fact so poorly run that they're just going to produce shows for the network completely free (which actually wouldn't surprise me at this point).

Meanwhile, the penny has finally dropped for Dixie Carter:

Quote:
“Dixie Carter on the one thing she would change from her past in TNA: “Oh wow, I’ve never been asked that question before! I think the thing I would change would be to realise that just because someone’s been in this business a long time, doesn’t mean that they have the magic silver bullet that’s going to change everything. People who’ve been doing this successfully in the past, and their experience, doesn’t necessarily mean that that will work today. Times have changed, viewing habits have changed, social media has changed so much about the world we live in today, and how we experience life. I think I would have not put so much stock in that, and would have looked beyond for fresher outside ideas earlier.””

I think that's her basically saying "Oh shit, Hogan really got one over on me didn't he?"

What a shame it's taken her so long to realise that pinning your hopes on two men, one known for being out for himself and one so linked to the demise of what was once the biggest wrestling promotion is a little bit stupid.

Maybe she should apologise to all of the women, X Division wrestlers and TNA originals sidelined by those men now she realises she was wrong to do so.

Also a shame that she's still deluding herself that TNA is going to be any kind of competition for WWE.

I'm taking my nephew to the Wembley Arena show next week. I don't know anything about it but he's really into wrestling and the WWE tour dates didn't work.

I'm kinda looking forward to it, I expect they put on a great show. Just hoping that it's ok for an 8 year old - the TNA DVD I bought him last week was a 15.

I laughed.

I mean I assume that was supposed to be a joke, right?

Yeah, if it's just a house show rather than a TV taping then it'll be all straight matches with no storyline so that'll be fine. Even if they are taping TV, I don't think TNA is running anything particularly risqué at the moment anyway.

The TNA house show I went to a few years back was really good. Mainly because it had absolutely nothing to do with their television product at all (and I do mean at all). They just let the roster go (a reminder of how much talent this promotion has wasted). I don't know if that's still the case though but if it is they still have a decent roster so should be a fun show.

Cheers.

I think it would have been my absolute dream to go to a big wrestling event when I was his age. All I got from him was "Is John Cena going to be there"

Not a good sign that as of yesterday, JackFoley could still get ringside seats at the Glasgow, Manchester and London shows one week before the shows.

£84 for a ringside seat at the Hydro in Glasgow. Bloody hell.

Are they filming TV at Wembley?

Im pretty sure that's dearer than a WWE ringside ticket for UK house shows.

Just had a quick look there and the London show is a taping, with two episodes of Impact to be filmed.

It appears to be more expensive than ringside tickets to the Raw taping in April which appear to max out at £80 (Link)

Tickets for a WWE house in April in the Hydro appeared to top out at £68 (Link)

I think all the shows are TV tapings, aren't they?
FMKK
23-01-2015
Craziness, though in the past people have clearly been willing to pay because TNA have always had good houses here. Unless they've bumped up the prices.

I wonder if being off TV for a while has hurt their fan base here? I know Challenge ran best-of shows in their absence but still, people may have assumed that the company was finished. I wonder if their UK viewing figures have held up.

This suggests that the London show is the only taping.

Also, it's strange that the website is impactwrestling.com while the merch site is shopTNA.com. Seems like they still aren't clear on their own name/branding.

It comes from the fact that DA have already given TNA more in terms of TV hours and promotion than Spike did. Obviously "anything they want" is an overstatement, but "quite a lot so far compared to Spike" is definitely accurate.

Ah, maybe. I just googled TNA tapings UK.

Cheers.
