It isn't, it's just a poor defence again.

Really? TNA could solve world hunger and Meltzer would report low backstage morale
Hollie_Louise

Maybe Dixie should give that a go because at the minute the low morale reports are coming from the fact they haven't had a paying fan through the door since January, the fact several roster members have departed recently, the unanswered reports that they are without a TV home in a months time, the fact TNA can't pull a PPV buying audience and as such there are again unanswered reports that their contracts are being changed.

If I worked there id have low morale too

You're telling me! At this stage I don't think there's much doubt they're closing down

Then what's the problem with Meltzer reporting low morale? I think it's pretty obvious there will be

It's more that he's been reporting 'low morale' every week for eight years.

No doubt there's always *somebody* moaning backstage. But the power of the media is the power of omission. You can bet there's somebody moaning backstage at WWE too, but that doesn't get reported. Go as they say, figure.

I've seen reports of low morale amongst WWE roster members in the last year.

And I asked you why would WWE do it if they gain nothing from it (a question you haven't actually answered). In fact why would any company do something from which they receive no benefit?

Quote:
“Frequently that's the problem with modern WWE: What's truly best for business is frequently boring. And I'm a viewer, not a shareholder.”

Only this has absolutely nothing to do with the corporate environment of the WWE. They have exactly zero history of acknowledging other companies unless they're forced to. McMahon had no interest in acknowledging WCW until they took all of his top stars and became actual competition for him at which point he was left with very little option but to acknowledge their existence. And even then it was fairly fleeting. When WWE got back on track again they more or less went back into their bubble. If TNA want WWE's attention then they have to earn it.

Quote:
“Oh, and it's completely a matter of opinion whether TNA's references to WWE were 'we're an underdog' or 'we suck'. But being hyper-critical of TNA is the 'net's default position.”

Its completely a matter of opinion I'm just going to try and invalidate your opinion by resurrecting the internet is all one hive mind argument.

Maybe that's because there's been low morale every week for eight years. I'd also point out that you don't need to read dirtsheets to see the truth of the low morale reports. AJ Styles has bolted and made it clear he's not interested in going back. Look at Samoe Joe's time in TNA and how he completely switched off at the end. These are all pretty clear signs that there's a lot to this morale issue.

It gets reported about WWE all the time as well.

They've added two more New York dates in September which is said to be them resuming domestic touring. Apparently there is also plans for TV tapings in October

I know people who have paid for £105 tickets, but would anyone here pay £250 to meet Angle?

Seems very steep to me, especially considering that he's going to charge more for extra signatures. Is he hard up for a few bob or just overestimating his worth? Maybe some people would pay that but I certainly wouldn't for Angle or anyone.

the branding of impact shows with the names of traditional build point ppvs isnt really working is it... they just dont have the "build" and they dont have the gravitas

and using "released" wrestlers for major stories isnt a usual practice for a reason - especially when they tape a month of shows, then do a live ppv where they say goodbye before the taped ones are shown

i wish tna well, but it needs live "ppv" shows (even if it was impact, and even if they then recorded a month of shows AFTER, not before as they did the last live traditional ppv)... because that is how stories can be structured. and wrestling needs stories.

things must be very tight if they cant do a schedule like...
"ppv class impact" shown "live or near live" even if it was the day before... then do a few days of impact recordings building to the next iteration of the cycle.. thus keeping the shock of the end of story and start of story twists to the near live show.

What is happening with the UK tour? Some fans say its being televised but others say it isnt because the Destination AMerica run will be finished by then.

I think the likelihood is that they don't know yet.

I agree. TNA discovered that going live didn't increase ratings so they stopped doing it. Also, their PPVs didn't make any money so they stopped doing them in favour of Impact 'specials'. The PPVs now are pretty much only to fulfil contractual obligations.

It's a shame, but they're doing what they need to in order to have the best chance of survival.

i think they know they have viewers if they can get product at a cheap enough price to keep it viable. they are part of sky of course, but sky really dont "owe" the wwe much exclusivity anymore... raw seems to have become a 1 hour show, as has smackdown... and when watching the live 3 hour monday show you can see why... they still cut out the "middle hour filler" which is often based around an american product placement "wrestle/advert" (be it for fast food or a film) and a jokey match... and the other hour cut is the references to the wwe network time...

but, did they build a "wrestling block" with roh & gfw shows - no sign of it, and while tna adds to challenges viewing figures it would be more of a "fit" with skys pick channel if they wanted it on freeview......

Challenge are so lame at times. Watching Impact now and the thingy scrolling across the bottom of the screen is reminding us WrestleTalk TV has a Rowdy RUDDY Piper special tonight!!!

Who's Ruddy Piper?

the show is painful.
the "take over" story is not coming over as smooth but lumpy. the writing out of the wrestlers that have resigned laboured...
they have begun to "sell" a traditional ppv but they have absolutely no "build" to it. it looks like it will be last minute random matches

I'm not convinced they'd view Impact as a big enough loss at this point to chase down another company to air. However, if they were to go shopping for an Impact replacement I would suggest New Japan is where they should go looking.
