I don't know how that works now. I would imagine recieving a video signal then broadcasting it wouldn't cost that much to do, or maybe it does.
I said this all year, and I will put money on it when the WWE's contract negotiations come up in the US again, we are starting to see a time when wrestling wont be on prime time TV. WIth WWE Raw, the USA Network will say wait a minute, this show was doing 4 million when we signed the last one, now it's doing under 3 million. Smackdown is even worse. They'll get rid of Smackdown and and offer MUCH less for Raw. All wrestling companies have to look at WWE. All TV companies that get approached with wrestling programming have to aswell because the WWE tells them how well the business is doing, if people are likely to watch or not.
And look at WWE on Sky. You never see Sky Sports show clips from WWE. It's never mentioned on their News channel unless there's a UK Tour. All those indents, men with cricket bats, men kicking a football, you never see anything from wrestling. No channel in the world to my knowledge, if i'm wrong tell me i'm wrong but no channel that i'm aware of actually boasts about showing wrestling. It's a dirty little secret that happens to draw a decent audience. All it does is boosts numbers for the channel, that's all the WWE is here and in the US, the USA Network doesn't care about WWE but they give their channel a boost and even that's not a good thing anymore since less and less people are watching Raw.
Society has moved on. You can't do anything new with wrestling. You're stuck inside a box and Vince Russo was the last one that poked around the corners of that box and drew every bit of blood he could he out of it and boosted the business to a level that it can never reach again. You can't do that again, everything's been used up and like I said before I'm glad that I'm at an age where I was able to enjoy the biggest stars in wrestling at their peak. I've seen all the legends and real stars of wrestling at their best, many of them in person, I'm glad that I can say that I've seen the best wrestling had to offer and lived through it. I can only compare it to The Beatles or Mohammad Ali, it's ok for you to be fans now but to live through it? Forge about it lol. David Bowie too. The young people thought Lady Gaga was something special or all this stuff about sexuality and loving yourself. We seen that with Bowie and Madonna years ago but a lot of people never got to see it.
And that's one reason why i just shake my head sometimes. When I re read what I just wrote about those people, those stars, man.....it'll never be done again. They just don't exist anymore. Even actors. James Dean. Bette Davis. Jack Nicholson. Robert Deniro. Forget about it! You just don't get stars like that anymore. Real stars. Real singers. Real sportsmen. Real talent. Same with wrestling. Wrestling will never be that good again, that's why I know many people online that want to argue with me or send me messages, I know they're youngsters. I know they didn't see what I saw, same with the music fans and sports fans. If they saw what I saw they wouldn't be saying those things. They never knew how good it could be.
I wish TNA well and hope they find a new home in the UK, hopefully free to air. I don't think there's anything else that can be done. I think in this world of 2016 when TV is so sophisticated and people are used to intelligent writing and characters, a lot of these wrestlers look like young boys and girls. They don't look like real men and real women. They don't look as if they have ever been in a real fight in their life and so how can you expect anyone at home to believe they can fight and win a match? They can't. It's just not believable. I hope TNA do well but it will be hard.
