The thing is that TNA attendance is totally unpredictable. Let's not forget that they drew 10,000 fans for Slammiversary, their second biggest PPV, so booking a 15,000 seat arena for Bound For Glory was not an entirely foolish idea.
The problem is that the card was rubbish and the build was just as bad. Instead of the A&E being at the zenith of their powers at the PPV, like nWo were at Starrcade 1997, they were practically completely destroyed in the months running up to the PPV. Styles was no longer the 'lone wolf against the pack', it was just a simple 1 v 1 match with a stable on Bully's side who have been booked weakly for months now. Even worse, Bully's reign was foolishly interrupted by Sabin's short title reign, which makes Styles winning (or not) feel much less important.
I have defended TNA to the hilt over the past few years but the birth of the A&E - who have now dominated storylines for a year and a half - marked the point TNA went on a downward spiral I don't know they'll recover from. For Dixie it's all sticking plasters and get-rich-quick schemes to fix things, which only makes it worse. People said ratings were bad under Russo - TNA was comfortably drawing 1.2 ratings or higher. Their rating for the GO-HOME SHOW OF THE BIGGEST PPV OF THE YEAR was a 0.84.
