and who since?

angle and orton, lesnar only ones i can think off,and even then lesnar does not ticks all boxes. punk, bryans all great but anyone on austin/rock/hogan level?

fmkk-you put none of austin down to russo? the beerk trucks drenching? the throwing off bridge? the ripping titantron? none of that helped austin get over? wow!....wow!

and do you really need to be so rude? wwf 99 had much betetr storylines, 2000 just had betetr idnividual matches. i know which i prefer.
It's not that none of it is down to Russo, it's that it wasn't all down to Russo. If Russo really was the #1 person responsible for Attitude, he could have improved WCW, he could have improved WWE but he's done nothing of note since leaving WWE. Nothing at all.

he did improve wcw

just becuse some stats went lower doesnt mean that I didnt think the quality of the show was amazing.

you can get all your knowledge fromd eath of wcw book but i lived it, every week and i loved it.

everyone can have their opinions but because mine is minority view(on net anyway) doesnt mean i shouldnt not voice it. if people want to start arguments with me thats fine but i will never be a follower because its easier.

You're quite welcome to your opinion. Maybe now you understand how I feel every time people take a pop at me for daring to like Cena lol.

I'm quite happy to state that Russo was a very big component in the Attitude era and his booking helped to turn WWE around, he didn't do that for WCW, in fact ratings and PPV buys dropped under his tenure, and in all the years he's spent writing TNA, he hasn't done it for them either.

Russo can write great material but he wasn't the sole component in WWE's rise. If he was, WCW would still be here today because his contributions would have turned the company around.

if given time, its ridiculous to say he should have turned wcw around in 9 months of booking time.(which was split 3-6 over a year)

and like i said he has never had full control in tna for more than 3 weeks or so.

You can't say he didn't have full control, he was paid to be head writer. It was his job. He was paid to write the shows.

You say the greatest period in wrestling was down to Russo but he has never once recaptured that success after leaving WWE.
whedon will never, ever see any wrong with anything russo has ever done - ever - so no good trying to reason with him. i gave up years ago

he came in as wcw was at lowest ebb, its like football, take over a relegation team, keep um afloat and build in the future, he didnt get that chance did he?

austin and rock are 2 biggest names because of russo

if they came in to the business now they would be no bigger than punk and orton.

its all about the scripts.

p.s i am a wrestling fan, i will always watch, even when i stopped watching wwe i still caught impact.
He got the chance at wcw and it sucked thats why viewers turned the channel over to watch steve austin.

Austin came up with his own name "stone cold" well his wife did. His king of the ring promo was ad-lib and no one knew what he was going to say.

Rock was turned heel due to die rocky die chants and the fans booing him at wrestlemania 13.

Your right about the scripts but remember vince had the final say and HHH and HBK and bret had alot of say in creative meetings during the clique era.

whedon will never, ever see any wrong with anything russo has ever done - ever - so no good trying to reason with him. i gave up years ago
Russo did do some good but back in the 90's early 00's talents were given bullet points to talk about but it was up to the talent to get over and relate with the crowd.

Check out wrestling with shadows, russo and the hart foundation segment, bret actually spoke more than russo

I read that they also signed some ex-soldier to a multi-year deal too. Seems strange for a company counting down the days unless Dixie has something to pull out of the bag!

Heads up to everyone watching Impact on Sunday.

Switch the show off after the main event finishes as there is a spoiler for the following weeks show.

Impact was very good this week. Some good matches.

Thanks! I hate these "next week" spoilers. Every show seems to have them now

i don't really watch it nowadays apart from the odd bit here and there - i did watch most of destination X though which was actually quite good. the new york crowd certainly made a huge difference and gave the show a lot of atmosphere.

Yes it was another strong show this week. Especially the Lashley / Aries match. It's great that Lashley is winning without any interference at the moment; makes him a far stronger champion and far more credible.
I wasn't so convinced by the Hardy Boys / Wolves match, mainly because Matt H seemed a bit out of shape and somewhat flabby, and the match didn't flow like it should have.

I hope TNA / Spike sort out their differences, as Impact has been much much better recently.

I've always been a fan of champions winning their matches cleanly. It's an often overlooked factor that can be used to easily build someone up as a strong, credible champion.

THIS. So much this.

I remember when Kurt Angle won the WWF championship for the first time, and they had him come out on Sunday Night Heat the next week and just destroy Hardcore Holly in a non-title squash match. It was just a way of saying - "This is why this guy is champ. He's in a different league to this guy". I wouldn't want RAW or Impact to become nothing but squash matches like in the '80s, but the odd squash to reassert the hierarchy is something wrestling badly needs to bring back, in my opinion.

Anyway, great Impact. Lashley / Aries was my favourite TV match of the year so far. Great storytelling. Lashley is a fantastic champ.

Was last nights TNA (on challenge) before or after destinationX? ... I recorded it but won bother watching if it's before!

I Watched DX last week (via P2P download) just couldn't wait!

like u guys have stated TNA has been fantastic viewing lately! ... so hopefully it doesn't disappear from the airwaves & stays on spikeTV!

(Lashley is the best champion since Roode IMO)

I have tried so many times to enjoy TNA. Is it worth trying again? I understand their future is a little sketchy regarding their Spike tv deal.

They're in the middle of a good run at the moment so definitely worth getting back in to if you want to give it a go. And Russo has been properly fired as well so that's always a plus point

First time I've watched TNA since Eric Young was champ (just unwatchable around that time) and wow, they have improved leaps and bounds.

Love the six-sided ring. Hardyz vs. Wolves was one of the best matches I've seen all year. Lashley/Aries fantastic from a storytelling perspective. Dudleyz/Dixie feud is greatly entertaining.

Would be a real shame to see them fold just when they're in the middle of this successful rebranding.

if you are a negative person

as i said russo aint had an impact on.....impact, for a long time so dont expect any difference on tv, although you will get fans who instantly love the product now,so predictable. placebo effect.

i always watch the tuesday repeat, should ahve avoided this thread as was looking forward to aries vs lashley, oh well still got hardys to look forward too.

is the X title dealt with on DX? or is still vacant?

As I understand it, the winners of the matches in DX will compete for the title next week.
