Android 4.2.2 - will everything still work?

My Nexus has informed me that it has downloaded Android 4.2.2. and that I can install it, but I'm holding off until I know it is 'safe', by which I mean will all my apps still work? I ask, because when my brother bought his Nexus a few months ago and was bumper up to 4.2.1, iPlay stopped working for a while. So I'm prepared to wait with the upgrade until word comes through that other apps will not stop working. Any thoughts?

4.2.2 seems to just be a few bugfixes and a couple of small UI tweaks. I cant see many (if any apps) having problems.

Everything seems to work fine. It's just a minor update.

That's odd. My Nexus 7 is on 4.2.1 and it says (as of now) that it's up to date.

I've heard they stagger the release so that they don't overload the update servers.

It's a sensible way of doing it. This is what Apple always get wrong. Come an update their servers are absolutely hammered by millions of iDevices and strange error messages result.

People say that. But Google have a lot of bandwidth. I mean they run YouTube.

Sky Go will not work. Sky are notoriously poor Android app developers though, so I would imagine that's the only app installed that won't work.

That'll just be because of the way sky go checks the version numbers. They are absolutely paranoid about screen mirroring so they only let it run on a whitelist of version numbers and device combinations.

You can long press on the wifi and bluetooth icons to turn on and off
The download notification (top left drop down) now shows estimated time to download
Two new sounds one for charging on the docking station and one for low battery and a USB debug feature (more for the phones i believe)

A couple of sites have said that somehow they have managed to extend battery life too but i have yet to notice anything on the notifications.

All seems to be working fine anyway, still massively impressed by this little machine.

Have they fixed the Bluetooth problems? I read that you could no longer tether your Nexus 7 via bluetooth with 4.2 - anyone know if this update fixes that?

If you have bluetooth on all the devices you want to use, its a much more battery friendly way to tether.

Yes it works great - can get full internet access just like WiFi. Plus as Paul says, they battery drain (especially on the Smartphone) is much better. Only downside is that range is limited.
