That's no good, with the chunk out of it, it looks more like the Moto 360

Close to the iWatch but not quite.

I dont wear a watch though use a HRM watch with strap when required, often fitted to its bike mount. I've not had to replace the disposable battery yet!

Interesting, when you realise that the way apps run on the iWatch alrady makes it a hybrid Project Ara type device.

Whether the “epic sh*t” is code for “epic bullsh*t” I have no idea.

A question -

I am in Kenya at the moment with a local SIM card in my iPhone. Someone sent me a text yesterday while I was in the air. Before I landed at Nairobi I swapped my UK SIM from my iPhone to my Moto G. Then some time after I landed I received a text on my watch which was now paired with my iPhone with a Kenyan SIM card. Sure enough I could see the text on my Moto G with my UK card. If I understand properly what has happened it neatly solves a problem I have while traveling. I divert my home mobile number to my local Kenyan number (via Skype) but I have never been able to get texts without plugging my UK sim into another phone. The watch seems to get round this. Can this actually be correct ?

Maybe if the "text" was actually an iMessage from an apple device to an apple device.

I see there is a correct way to walk around the streets when wearing an Apple Watch

Funny but one on each arm is definitely the way to go so you don't miss anyone seeing it from either side.

Well, considering the CEO of MIO stated how much better the HRM was on there devices, the comparison makes interesting reading.

But in that case why didn't it appear on my iPhone ?

Apple Watch voodoo?

iMessage can be a strange beast, I've seen with roaming before with an iPhone roaming that you change the SIM when out of the home country (ie, with no internet access) and the phone can't tell the iMessage server that the number is no longer active. So you then fit a new SIM and the same apple ID is in use, and random messages arrive.

I think iMessage needs to be turned off in the home country / with data (e.g. WiFi) before swapping SIM and then turned on again.

However the Watch may do its own thing over WiFi directly ?

Yes, I think you are probably right.

BTW talking about wifi on the watch I have another question -

My understanding is that the watch can pair via wifi instead of bluetooth. However, what happens if you have a multi hotspot network ? Can you connect the watch to a different hotspot to the one the phone is connected to, and if you do and the phone had never been connected to that particular hotspot how does the watch get the password ? I'm not aware of a UI on the phone that would allow alphanumeric input.

The Watch uses WiFi networks which the iPhone is configured to recognise. You never have to ask the Watch to join a network.

At the risk of feeding the trolls, some users have had problems as the Watch only uses 2.4Hz networks, not 5GHz. This may mean you need to change your iPhone to use the 2.4GHz network in preference if you have both.

Thanks. Just to clarify then, if the phone has previously connected to all hotspots on a given network then can the watch and phone be connected to different hotspots ?

I think so, yes.

"Which watch wins after week of wear?"
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-32522208
It is more a usage comparison, it leaving out many of the differences such as the DULLER Sony screen that is highly visible in sunlight whilst using the transflective (no backlight) mode .

Quite obviously, this does not stop the inferred, repeated argument that you have to pay more(200% to 500%) to prove how generous you are.

He came to the same conclusion as me. Still not sure what benefit they bring.

Although with the trouble he was having getting the Sony to work, I assume (hope) he had a faulty one.

I've been at Disneyland all week and my Pebble is on 40-50% battery (screen on the whole time, naturally). I knew it would last the whole time and then some, so never even took the charger.

Battery is my number one priority. I don't expect it to be the same priority for everyone, but I've had enough fun keeping two phones, a tablet, portable battery chargers and a camera charged up as it is!

I have a 5 in one USB charger but can just imagine how hotels are now struggling to keep up with the demands for power sockets as people now have another gadget to keep charged!

I might have misread somewhere along the line but 'It found your Sim but as it was in an Android phone, with no data connection allowed (the walled garden) it chose to send you an 'International SMS Text'.

I'm not sure why a copy did not appear in the iPhone too.

I'm surprised you didn't take a feature phone and film camera if battery was your priority

Might have made it a bit tricky to upload all the photos and videos to Google+ and Dropbox and post to Facebook!

Given the amount of queuing, I've been online quite a bit. Thank God for Three Feel at Home!

And one of the phones I took had a 3600mAh battery, and even that struggled as I took so many photos and the brightness goes to max when the camera is on. Still, I expect it did last far better than most phones before needing a top up.

I always pack a 4-way power strip as not all my gadgets use micro-USB chargers. Have mini-USB and assorted proprietary chargers too. And just ordered myself a combined portable QI charger pad / power pack too to be even less dependant on not being within range of a power socket for too long.

I'm amazed my bag never gets pulled aside for more thorough checking when going through security.

I also travel carrying an amazing array of electronic paraphernalia. However, my latest best friend is this 3 way mains strip incorporating 4 USB ports -

The Anker 5-way USB PSU is also a great little box, I often carry one of those.

I'm not sure I follow what you are saying (no surprise there), but I am surprised that you refer to Android as a walled garden.

Having been fed low expectations I'm quite pleased at how my Apple watch battery is fairing. I've been wearing it all day, it is now 9.45pm and it is still showing 78% (for the astute among you, before you point out I have got the time wrong, I am in Kenya +2 hrs).

[edit a minute later] I'm confused by the time stamp on my forum message, it's showing 18:45, but surely it's 19:45 in the UK ATM.
