Aluminium though corrodes from sweat, thus that fast loss of iWatch lettering. Its part of how the debate about Sport referring to a style and not sports use.
What ever are you on about?

The Apple Watch Sport has a hard anodised case which, by definition, is already 'corroded' in that it is a thin layer of aluminium oxide that is resistant to further corrosion. The lettering is laser etched into the case - nothing to wear off.

Besides, aluminium is not a new idea in watches - Swatch have been using it for years.

Low quality anodisation then? Or just may e every timeyou putthephone dlwn, light scratching ensues.

The anodised layer must be microns thick compared to the millimeters in better stainless steel.
That could be another of the reasons Apple tells you to wear it fairly loose. That would let skin breath.

Doesn't it weaken/remove the oxide? For the letters to be seen something has to be changed/removed.

I don't know to be honest - from Wikipedia (so sue me) it states that anodising can add 40-50 nm of coating, whereas natural oxidisation only adds 3-4nm. I would think that the laser etching is calibrated not to exceed the anodisation.

For the record I have the SS model and the lettering is properly etched in, not just a change in surface finish.

Not sure I believe these stories that the lettering is wearing off. It looked like the Apple logo was scratched off deliberately in that photo.

Some of those photos shows the sort of damaged caused to phones by having keys in your pockets (i.e two things rubbing together).

The only thing the back of a watch can rub off is your arm. So I'm not sure how the Apple logo could be removed like that unless it was scratched off deliberately.

I think some apps must need updating for this new watchOS 2. The Barclays watch app doesn't open at all for me - tapping on it brings up the loading spinner but then it just falls back to the main app screen. I did get a text from Barclays last week saying that if I was upgrading my iPhone to iOS9 then I would need to upgrade my watch to watchOS 2 in order for the app to continue to work, but that was obviously before watchOS 2 was delayed. I guess whatever changed has broken the Barclays watch app. Not losing too much sleep though as the app was of pretty limited use (just showing a balance indicator).

Lloyds came on stream last week with Apple Pay while I was abroad and yesterday was my first chance to try it out. I know this is old hat, but I must say, from the putting in of a card to the actual using of it in a shop, as ever Apple have completely nailed the user experience, it is silky smooth.
