Ah right. Is 302 actually going to show anything other than a data stream though?

302, that is so yesterday. My 302 has now become 308, which is obviously six better, and so well worth the upgrade. It happened some time after the other Waltham changes.

Yes, 302 not found but 308 is, with a caption saying 'if you can see this message on ch 302, please retune your freeview reciever'

Lol, yet another retune

Why such a big deal? If you don't want to retune then don't do a retune. The world won't come to an end. You won't even lose any existing channels. Why waste your energy on it- just ignore it!

The page Sue linked to says they will have three red button streams for Glastonbury, so I suspect it will be used.

If it wasn't they would have removed the LCN or shunted it down to the 790s as the current practice is.

T2 was rolled out at the end of 2009, wasn't it? That's not even four years.

Because retunes are all too frequent on freeview to get new channels or for other changes.

And that of course means having to reset favourites and delete all the unwanted guff yet again from the channel list.

So why not try stopping retuning until there's something in the Changelog you do want to have in your EPG?

Don't most if not all T2 receivers pick up changes automatically without a rescan?

Yes the Freeview HD tick means that they auto re-tune.....

And so it will remain, forever more, unless you want everything to stay the same, forever more.

Because my box will constantly nag me over and over again about retuning.

Well my freesat box manages to update new channels and changes without messing up my favourites and requiring me to delete all the unwanted channels again. So you have to ask why can't freeview?

I can see the HD stream on Freeview. I find it strange that they've called it 303 HD instead of 301 HD - is it not going to be a 301 simulcast then? I'm surprised neither new stream has appeared on satellite yet.

The screen caption for 303 says 'the best of BBC Red Button in HD' so I imagine it could be a mix of both the SD red button streams.

It also now says 'Coming soon for summer 2013' which also indicates to me that it will only be a temporary service.

But why would they ever put "the best" stuff on 302? Surely a non-simulcast channel is more expensive to run - hell, it's the whole reason BBC HD doesn't exist any more!

I can understand it being used for 3D (Wimbledon finals, for example) but otherwise it should just be 301 HD, IMO.

I think it has! I linked to a thread earlier on in the week on the satellite forums where it first appeared as a duplicate BBC 2 (I think).

Edit: Just checked - it was the 24th May when the 303 ident data appeared.

Don't know mate. I'm just going by what the message on the screen says and my interpretation of it.

It could just end up being a simulcast of 301, but then 301 isn't a 'real' channel number anyway so it doesn't really matter if 303 HD is called 301 HD or not.

Can't see anything new on the BBC's HD transponders.

It depends on the Freeview Box's software, Mickey: my TVOnics DTR HV-250 added 308 without any onscreen message telling me it had done so. The first I knew was 308 appearing after 302 on the EPG - I'd hidden 304-307 a while back.

See, for example http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/d...update-work%3F for another example.
