o2 online pay as you go sim, (mention previously) is probably the best value if u text alot. £10 a month top up for 300 free msgs, and you still have your £10 as credit. o2 use to have 2p a minute weekend calls to other o2 mobiles, and landlines. That was a good deal. I think its 10p a minute now though!

I know, but under the previous system if you topped upby £50 you automatically qualified for the lower rates. As long as you remained in credit you would remain on those rates no matter what amount you topped up by.E.g. if you topped up £50 on your phone from scratch you would have £50 credit and automaticly go on to the lower tarrif. If you had £0.10 then left on your phone after a while and topped up by £5 your credit would then be £5.10 but you would stillbe on the lower tarrif - the trick was to make sure your credit did not hit zero otherwise you would then have had to top up by £50 again to get the lower tarrif back. It's rates were very good, landlines were 25p/5p, on-net was 15p/5p off-net was 50p/25p (OK, daytime wasn't great but the evening charge was the lowest available) and text messages were 5p - no other network matched it at the time. Most of the time I had it I was a student in Belfast where the signal for Orange was very good in most places but less so back home, although they have improved that now to a level compariable to that of O2 and Vodafone.

It is only HSBC and Natwest that still use the Mastercard/Maestro (Switch)/Solo route. The rest use the Visa route: Visa/Delta (Visa Debit Card)/Electron.

And a) I would never go with Natwest as they are meant to be extremely poor. Nor do I like HSBC either.

Agreed, but I tend to use my phone more during the daytime, so "choose your own offpeak" is the best deal (in my circumstances) at the moment. Now, if the other networks were to match that........

Fresh have calls at 15p at all times, to any network.

That's good as well. But as I said, virtually all my calls are made within my offpeak period, and if I do make calls at any other time, it is usually to another orange phone which only works out 20p min max. Plus orange seems to have the best signal in the southwest.

ps Correct me if I'm wrong, but do Fresh only sell contract phones?
