I heard that. I didn't think it was all that terrible, but it's not my favourite song by her. I don't really think Tori is too much of a singles artist anymore so you don't really have B sides like you used to.
On the positive side, a low quality recording of her song Oysters leaked out today. It's a beautiful stripped down piano sort of similiar to Cooling.

I'm dying to hear clips of the album! In other news, Tori is filming a video for Trouble's Lament in Islington.

i adore 'selkie' ...it reminds me of a piano track from the scarlet era.

Selkie is a total favourite. Oysters is similar, but for me isn't quite as magical. I really enjoy all of it, except Rose Dover, which, although it has some fantastic parts, has a really twee feeling to parts of it... It's like a fantastic song with a Ribbons Undone rehash that keeps chiming in. The title track... and 16 Shades of Blue... LOVE. And the piano only songs... where has she been this last decade?!!

I agree with your review. The title track and 16 Shades of Blue are my favourites too. I also really like Wild Way and America. I like both Oysters and Selkie too, but not as much as I thought I would. I guess I like her songs that have different textures rather than just purely piano and voice songs. But it's all great. It's a lot to absorb. It's a complex record that I'm sure I won't tire of quickly.

Enjoy! This tour will be interesting because it's solo with just her and her piano and keyboards. That will give her freedom to really change the setlist. It will be interesting to see what she plays. One of the things I love about Tori live is that she is not afraid to embrace her whole catalogue. There are some artists that focus almost solely on their latest album and no matter how much I love the album I find that unsatisfying, but Tori plays everything. I'm a fan of an artist usually because I love that person's whole body of work.
I couldn't resist listening to the album. I don't think it's something I will tire of quickly because it has so many levels so I won't regret listening early. It's a very diverse album although of course the songs are all in Tori's unique style so it's not too samey. And although it's inspired by visual artists, it's not too heavy on the concept which in the past can be kind of pretentious with her. Definitely one of her best albums and to me by far the best album I've heard this year.

Here's a nice review written by very someone who's obviously very well informed about Tori's work over the years.

I do find it a little disappointing that Trouble's Lament has not been playlisted on either BBC2 or BBC 6. I think it would be suitable for both of those stations. BBC 2 was all over the recent singles by Suzanne Vega and Chrissy Hynde and BBC 6 currently has the new Courtney Love single on their A list. But no sign of Tori! Clearly they don't mind playing other older alternative leaning artists so it's a little odd they aren't playing Tori.

Yeah that is totally different to Cork! I wonder what time it went on until? I'm concerned because my train leaves at 10:40 and it's the last one! Plus I need like 15 minutes to walk back to the train station, fearing I'll have to leave before the encore!

Yes, you might have to leave a little early unfortunately. I read she goes on around 9 and the show is around an hour and 45.

2 days to Glasgow and 4 to the Geraldines! I think a lot of people have heard the album but I've managed to resist. Heard Selkie live and TL which I adore.

Tonight's setlist.
01. Parasol
02. Crucify
("Pocketbook" Improv)
03. Wild Way
04. Caught A Lite Sneeze
05. Sister Janet
06. The Power Of Orange Knickers
("I Knew You Were Trouble" - Taylor Swift Intro)
07. Putting The Damage On

Lizard Lounge:

("Gay Pals" Improv)
08. River (Joni Mitchell Cover)
09. Landslide (Fleetwood Mac Cover)

10. Winter
11. Trouble's Lament
12. Bells For Her
13. Take To The Sky/Datura
14. i i e e e

Encore:

15. Cornflake Girl
("Granny Rock" Improv)
16. Leather
17. Toast

These setlists are incredible. Putting the Damage on is one of my all time favourite songs! It's kind of light on the new album, although that may change after it's released, but I doubt anyone minds too much since a lot of fans do prefer hearing stuff they know.

It's ironic she did Cornflake Girl because someone on twitter complained last night she didn't sing it and they felt ripped off. I guess it's her biggest "hit" known to casual fans. I doubt she read that on twitter though.
