I don't know actually. She's doing some shows with an orchestra! Please let them be recorded professionally. I got Abnormally Attracted to Sin on vinyl. Sounds great!

Oh, I didn't know the Australian tour was with an orchestra. I have to admit I'm not that big on her orchestral shows. I prefer her solo or with a band. It just seems like the orchestra limits the songs she can do since not everything is going to work with them. I know some people love the orchestra thing, but I'm not that big on traditional classical music.

I know what you mean. It's nice to hear songs performed the way they're written though, like Winter or Gold Dust with the strings. Not all the shows are with the orchestra! I think at least one is a total request performance!

Oh Wow! A total request performance would be great. I have been to all her tours except for the orchestra/string quartet one. I actually saw one of her first live shows at the Bottom Line in NYC. I was hooked from then on. She really is one of the best live performers ever. I buy her albums, but for me Tori is best experienced live.

Well I'm here drinking coffee and listening to Unrepentant Geraldines. It's such a solid album. I think this year we will see the release of The Light Princess cast album.

It's a great album but I feel it didn't get the promotion or the hearing it deserved. She didn't perform that many of the songs from it on her tour but relied more on her older stuff. And the songs weren't really played by radio even on stations like BBC2 or BB6 who have played her music in the past. I hope she doesn't forget about the songs from it and does perform songs from it on her future tours. I loved seeing her perform solo but it would be nice to perform some of the song from UG with a full band to make them sound more like the recordings in the future.

A lot of people would, but Tori likes complete control over her work.

Yes, but I think an artist can still work with outside producers and yet retain the final say. Sometimes a producer can make suggestions you never thought of and you end up liking it. Having a producer doesn't mean you become a puppet.
I enjoy UG, but for the next record I'd like something a little more in your face and edgy. A lot of it is very pretty, but a little bland to me. I want more passion and fire.
In interviews, she talked a lot about turning 50 and how she has to be mature and certain things she did when she was younger aren't appropriate anymore. That sort of saddens me. I would hate her to feel limited in her creativity by her age.

With all the hype about Lady Gaga's new single, I hope no one is forgetting that Tori Amos is also coming out with a new song tomorrow.

It is called Flicker and is from a Netflix documentary Audrie and Daisy which is about teenage victims of sexual assault.

Definitely looking forward to hearing and buying it!

I wasn't aware of a new song. Not heard anything from promo or even mail listings. So thank you for alerting everyone to it

I like it. It's really pretty. Nothing too different from her, but enjoyable.

Sounds like a cast off from UG.

Really? I'm not that big on UG, but I actually think this is better than most of the songs on that album. I really like it.

Here is a good interview with her about the song and the movie.

As a huge fan ...i agree this song does sound like it is from the UG or NOTH (Universal sound period). There is a distinctive difference in terms of the vocal treatment and production. However, the song it self, if you took away the vocal and production qualities would probably fit venus or abnormally. Its nice to hear some of the fire and bite back, even among the classical soft production. I am now hopeful for a return to the fire. Maybe the remastering and review of BPF20 has been effective in reigniting something with a little grit.

Tori needs to put reverb and space in her production choices. It sounds like the air has been sucked out of the song. Far too clean. The songs used to breathe.

I think most fans agree with you in that they don't like her production choices recently. But I don't really look in music in that technical a way since I'm not a professional musician. I just go more intuitively with whether I like a song or not.
But in general I like more polished production , so the clean production doesn't bother me.
Tori definitely has some pretty critical fans, but I think it's great she follows her own muse and keeps releasing music.

Here is a great interview with Tori and Shirley Manson. Two of my favorite artists in the world. I wish they could do a song together.

http://thetalkhouse.com/tori-amos-ta...music-podcast/

I"ve heard about the anniversary edition of Boys for Pele. I have to be honest, I'm not a big collector, so for me it's kind of waste to buy a remastered album of songs I already have just to hear a few unreleased songs. I know a lot of fans get into re-releases like that, but it doesn't interest me personally.

I'm much more excited to hear in the interview she is working on a new album!

Well, the remastering is perfect. Pele really opens up in this remaster.

I guess I'm not an audophile in that way. I never notice any difference in remasatering. I don't relate to music on a technical level like that. I relate to things more emotionally.
