XF: Back To Basics 2 - Semi-Final
Previously on Back To Basics, the famous five remaining acts sung not once but twice for the first time with Guilty Pleasures and Number 1's. Whilst some were indeed number 1, others were more of a guilty pleasure...but in the end with no sing-off's at this point, we had to say goodbye to Ruth Lorenzo who was voted out by the public leaving Jacka the first mentor to lose all his acts. Tonight, it's the Semi-Final and our fantastic four acts will be singing songs based on their mentor's names and they'll be going for broke in order to earn a place in the Final, but one more act has to face the AGONY of leaving the competition for good.
Fighting for your votes are: pingu58011 & The last of the Boys Aiden Grimshaw Kuda_Kunaka & The last of the Girls Treyc Cohen jackamakka who has no remaining Overs bboy1988 & The Groups Little Mix MK1 Good evening folks and welcome to where your exciting Saturday night starts right here! This is going to be quite a Semi-Final so let's hope the panel have their a-game, judges, confirm your presence! |

Okay, Kuda isn't here tonight but I have his comments at the ready. We'll start off with songs based on the mentor's names and opening the show is the first of Stephen's groups, it's MK1! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9n85vK5Ozns

Guys, that was a really gutsy performance. It went back to your beginnings as an urban group which isn’t always shown as your mentor wants to do different styles to show off how must diversity you have. It’s great to hear your voice Charlie a little bit, I would have just liked you to show it off more as it is great. Anyway, best of luck tonight and I hope you step up your game a little for the second performance. Good job so far. |

MK1 talk about an obvious and predictable song choice. Firstly tulisa is on the panel and it is the sort of thing an N-dubz tribute act would do. The vocals and rapping were good but I seem to be saying the same things every week and your mentor doesn`t listen. I`m worried for you tonight!! |

Mk1
Honestly, I didn't think that was anyway near your best performance as I found the song really the most predictable your mentor could've have gone with as you've always have been compared to NDubz. and Sim, I think you should just stick to rapping, you tried to sing in the first verse and it didn't sound great. As a whole the performance wasn't too bad. |

Guys you know what this is exactly the type of song you should be singing. N Dubz is the act you quoted as wanting the success they have had and as a group you have a similar vibe. Sim tonight it was great to hear you singing and not just rapping, it brought the group to a new level. Charlie your vocals were smooth and cool as ever. The rapping was just amazing tonight guys. I really hope that the public will continue to vote for you as I have said previously you are one of the most diverse acts in the competition and are one of the only acts left that have taken risks with your songs and deserve to stay in. |

So we being with not good comments for MK1, but they'll have another chance to change that later.
Now we go to the last remaining boy who has overcome several odds, hoping to shift into another gear, it's Aiden Grimshaw! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sm3aG-HJInw |

Aiden Grimshaw
WOW!! Aiden that was incredible. It was dark and eery and had the aiden tone on the song. It was just amazing and the vocals were some of the best you`ve ever given. I really hope you are in the final and I can`t wait for your other song as it shows off a different side to you!! |

Aiden
Aiden tonight’s theme was so wide open and was a chance for you and your mentor to really redeem yourselves in the competition, but I really didn’t get that performance tonight. I am going to be completely honest with you and say I was bored listening to that performance. Aiden before this competition I was excited to see what your mentor would do with you and I have been let down almost every week. I just don’t think your song choices are strong enough to allow you t continue to the final. |

Aiden
Aiden, there's music, then there's this. Haunting! You're hot, then you're cold, in the way Katy Perry likes putting it.. and that's how I feel about your performances so far. Last week I congratulated you on coming back on track with that 'Power of Love' performance, this was a major step back for me. It was so dark, I nearly ran a mile. I just dint like it, I didn't connect and I just didn't like it |

Aiden Grimshaw
Aiden, as this song started I had goosebumps and I felt like something really special was going to happen. And it kind of did. I’m not saying I was completely blown away, but there was a lot more emotion in this performance that I’ve not seen for a few weeks. You also really showed off your vocal range which isn’t a regular occurrence. You’ve done okay with this performance, definitely a step up from the last few weeks, I just hope you do something that will wow me in your second performance because I want to like you but you’re doing everything that could possibly annoy me! |

Hmm, not good comments for Aiden, but the public have saved him many times, will his second song save him? Back to the groups and ready to dance to the beat of their drums, it's Little Mix! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_BG3n1q5KU

Little Mix
Girls, this was very fun tonight but definitely not your best vocal performance. It was a lot weaker than usual and I was somewhat disappointed as I hoped you would come out and show just how badly you want to be in the final next round. I just think you could have done a lot better tonight girls and I’m upset because you’ve been improving a lot in the competition before tonight. I hope you make a great improvement with your second song as I want you to be in the final next week. |

Girls for the first time ever I didn`t like your performance. I think it was too karaoke and didn``t really show off your vocals. Its something you`d expect on the first show but not the semi final. I hope the public remembers you for previous weeks and I hope the next song you do is better!! |

Little Mix
Girls that is what we needed tonight after that last performance. We needed an injection of personality, fun and incredible vocals. You girls have never failed to deliver in this competition and like MK1 have been exciting to watch and have taken risks with your songs. That song was amazing and showed yet another side to you girls. I really hope that the public love you girls as much as I do and will continue to vote you through as I feel you have shown exactly why you deserve to be here tonight and why you deserve your place in the final. |

Little Mix
I wasn't too blown away by the vocals but I absolutely loved the song choice as I could imagine you covering it and smashing it out of the park. I for sure was dancing to the beat of your drum tonight and I cant wait for you're next song. Good performance. |

So for the first time, it's very mixed comments for Little Mix, but will they back to their old selves with the second song?
Next up if the last remaining girl and tonight, she's killing us softly her with soul voice, it's Treyc Cohen! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKOtzIo-uYw Note: Imagine it sped up a little |

Treyc Cohen
Treyc, this powerhouse song for your powerhouse voice was a great choice by your mentor. I love you Treyc and this just enforced that even more into my head. I would love to hear you release a song like this as it suits your voice down to a tee. I hope you continue with a great performance like this into the second performance tonight and I don’t doubt for a second that you will be here next week. Your mentor makes the perfect decision every week and I said in the first week that I hope you don’t get lost under the more powerful voices of Leona and Alexandra but look where just power got them! Your voice has texture which makes it ten times more enjoyable than any others. Good luck tonight, but I don’t think you need much luck with the amount of talent you’ve got! |

TreyC Cohen
TreyC I thought the vocals were just beautiful but it is a bit of a predictable song choice for you and I predict your mentor picked it quite quickly. I have to say that you were my favourite outside my category so far in tonights show!! |

Treyc
Your performances have had versatility written all over them so far in the competition and on the semi final was the best night to bring back that original raw vocal like your performance 'One' on the main show.. and tell you what Treyc, you did not disappoint. I've heard that song God know how many times, but your version was just smooth and heart-hitting with all that emotion you poured in on every lyric. I'm so pleased for you delivering in such a manner tonight! |

Wow, the judges are certainly not holding back tonight, but Treyc has a second chance to change all of that. So we come to the end of the first theme. It's now time for the four acts to go for broke and now we go back to the groups for the second theme, here with a remedy for success in earning a place in the final, it's MK1! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o38QCTzWxe4
