The Sunday People claim BB6 will run for 4 months (may-august). The all summer run will include the usual nightly highlight shows, live tasks, evictions, BBLB etc but this year viewers will have the final say on who goes in the house. 20 possible contestants will be whittled down to the final 10 house mates by a viewer vote on the opening night.

Well, if it's true we can count on a good show. The public are so good at choosing interesting contestants...

Makes me wonder who the public would have voted in from the BB5 batch! Er... Shell?

bad idea,10 weeks were too long this year. You need at least 18 housemates to make this work.Weekly evictions have to be part of the show

I would think that were BB to last four months the viewing figures would fall.

you're right ,as soon as it starts to clash with the football season and other major events it will struggle. At the moment it's a great time filler between footy seasons

YES!!! I've always said a public vote to get HM's in the house is a winning idea. Excellente

I've got a feeling BB6 is going to be radically different to anything we've seen before. when they thought about the idea of extending it to 15 weeks they must have considered the fact that there could be a repeat of BB4-which extended over 4 months would kill the show. This makes me wonder if -as well as the weekly evictions- viewers will have more power over who stays and who goes. i.e replacing boring house mates with new one's (out of the 10 remaining finalists maybe?)

It's an rumor which has been doing the rounds for a few years now. But if the show is to run for 15 weeks having this as a safety net is the only way i think it can survive.

I think the 2 house idea could come into play with hms being promoted and relegated between the 2 houses. You could then reach a cut-off point when all the hms in the 2nd house are evicted and you are left with the main house

In my opinion it's never really worked when new people have been brought in including when the public voted Josh into the house. I agree that there would have to be enough people in there at the beginning (more than 10) to keep up with the weekly evictions until we are left with the final three.

Yes that's what i was thinking. (they've got that big brother panto lodge) I've always thought it was a bad idea. But this year it's crucial there aren't any bores. so if it's done properly i think it could work quite well. I'm pretty sure the format is going to undergo a big transformation this year. It's the only way the show can survive. Even though last year was a success the format imo felt strained. I really don't think it can work again this year. Something needs to change.

The best bit about a two house idea is that C4 don't tell the HMs, but we are actually watching House 2, who don't realise they are on TV

Then perhaps we can find out what they're really like.

Also wouldn't it be great when the House 1 HMs come out ready to sell their stories and go straight to ligging, and nobody knows who they are

I think it good as will always have enough footage to fill say 1 hour a night, no matter what its up against its still going to boost channel 4's audience share for those months.

I fear for the HM's who stay in the duration.
There will be lots of walk outs thats for sure.

I don't know if I'd like it if it were to last for so long and was like BB4.

All the series so far have had new housemates arrive, and then get voted out after a while (although I wonder if Becky would have stayed if it weren't for the Judas kiss this year?). So if there were two houses it would be brilliant, as it might save new housemates arriving.

whatever happens, I hope they dont run it for too long with only a handful of housemates. the last couple of weeks are always dull due to not being enough people left in the house..... if that were to drag on for a month

as for the public voting who goes into the house... oh great... a house full of camerons and nadias?!

The only way I can see for a long bb to work would be if every week there was a normal eviction, with phone lines closing for that on the friday. From then until saturday night the phone lines are open again, but this time you vote to either put someone new in (a choice of two people each week maybe?) or an already evicted housemate. After that the phone lines then go back to voting for next weeks eviction again.

This would mean that you'd get most of the way through the show with the house still being full of a good range of personalities. Plus people evicted by mistake can have a 2nd chance (like mr tickle was given a 2nd chance and anoushka should have been).

When the show gets two weeks to go, the phone lines are then purely open to voting for the winner... and on each day of the last week the person with the least votes goes. An eviction every night for the last week would keep it really interesting right up until the end.

the details need a bit of work, but I reckon generally that would work out really well without the teenie girl and bored housewife voters having chance to ruin the it.

When I heard this I assumed the only way it could be done was with 2 houses like in Aussie BB3. 2 houses just can hear each other but not have any contact. 1 person goes from each side each friday until they are left with 10-12 people and the house divides are removed.

Could be a very good idea and hopefully ensure that the more interesting housemates are left

how would it ensure more interesting housemates are left? surely the interesting ones will be voted out from both sides as normal? If the british public get the choice in who goes, it'll be the interesting ones first, guaranteed. doesnt matter if its one house or two halves of one as far as I can see?

It will only work if the show doesn't run out of steam midway like BB5 did....

hmm bb5 had to much steam to fit the kettle in my opinion
