Samsung Galaxy Cracked Screen
Girlfriend has dropped Samsung Galaxy S2 on tiles, partially cracking screen.
It's still operable but definitely needs the screen replaced. She has insurance with Dial-a-cover but looking on the www.policyadmin.co.uk website, it appears that she has to pay a £50 excess (which we weren't aware of). So that, plus the £6.99/month for a 24 month contract, comes in at a whopping £217.76 for cover. She still has 9 months remaining so could save £62.91 on insurance by cancelling the policy following a claim, but what are her other options? I also dropped an iPhone last year and got a replacement direct from Apple for £125, which I didn't think was too unreasonable. So Samsung do something similar? What other potential options does she have? |

It's best to check the terms of these insurance companies, the cheaper ones have an excess that people often don't read the terms and find.
I will look after my phone so much and wrap it up in cotton wool, but even I have the occasional once every few years accident, which I tend to cover out of my own pocket from all of the insurance fees I haven't had to pay. You can get screens replaced at a repair shop, that's probably your best option. Then either get an insurance policy that's less of a rip off, or save the money each month from all these little things you have insured and put it towards an accident fund. If you don't break anything you typically end up better off. If people are more accident prone go for the insurance, if you rarely break your phone just save the money you would have paid each month on insurance. |
