Any use Linux as there main operating system?
At the moment I have W7HP with Linux Mint also installed. I am thinking about moving away from W7 completely as Mint seems to do all I need. Any use Linux as there main operating system?

Ubuntu 12.04 - at least 90%. Dual boot with XP for when I have to (not very often).

Could anyone help me with this, I installed Mint with the Windows installer, it only has a 30gb partition which is the maximum, I'd like to copy my windows files over to mint IE my documents and photos etc and increase the partition, is this possible?

Linux Mint (currently Nadia) for several years.
W7 very occasionally as Linux doesn't get on with my Creative Zen mp3 player, although Archos is no problem. |

re Linux use
Yes I mainly use Linux Mint 14 (Nadia) mate version. It's set up as dual boot with windows 7 which I rarely use.

I have a crappy old laptop that is running Mint 13 Xfce. Unlike most of the other distros I tried this one picked up all the hardware correctly without any fuss. Overall impression is that it is very good, a massive improvement on my past experiences with Linux. I don't really have a particular use for it though, basically just looking to have a mess about and learn some new tricks.

Most of my computers have Linux as secondary operating systems, and that'll probably continue as long as Microsoft sells Windows at a discount (Windows 7 for £40, Windows 8 for £25).
Only an 11 year old Dell has Linux as the main OS. Xubuntu and Crunchbang (openbox). |

(very limited) promotional priced stock available. Once they're gone, the Windows 8 Pro Upgrades will go up to £189.99. The only exception to this would be separate promotional pricing for students. |

I don't but I have a friend who uses Ubuntu all the time. She wiped Windows from her laptop completely (it originally came with the dreaded Vista). She has no problem with it and it does everything she wants it to do. She's not a gamer and she doesn't use any Windows-only software.

All of us here use Linux as a main OS. Missus has Ubuntu 12.04 on her laptop (soon to be openSUSE 12.3), and I use Kubuntu. I have W7 as a secondary OS, purely because I picked it up cheap at launch, and the missus has W7 too as it came on the laptop. Youngest used Mint until recently when her laptop hard drive collapsed, and now just uses either our stuff for now, or her Nexus 7.
None of us have had any problems running Linux as a main OS for many years. It's not perfect, but then neither is Windows.
