A plotdevicey OOC hug? *sigh*

Love that they've barely ever had a real Terry conversation, but we get this.

I bet it'll be some long drawn-out hug too.

Well It's no surprise why Ste gets the wrong impression.

There's already so much insecurity between the two of them and now Ste's gonna be thinking all sorts of stuff.

God sake, Brendan. Can't you just awkwardly pat his shoulder like any other socially awkward human?!

Well Kevin will have already been punched by this point won't he? I dunno, I think we'll have to watch how it's all portrayed as usual.

It all makes sense. We'll see how the hug seems when we see it, but I imagine Emmett will make it believable that Brendan would do that. And it gives Ste a bit more reason to doubt him, rather than just taking little Kevin's word over Brendan's, if he's already feeling insecure.

It's good to have it spelt out that Brendan isn't responsible for the beating, at least for the most part, and he lashes out for a reason (even though he shouldn't, obviously...)

It was inevitable that Simon would use his knowledge of the abuse in some way. Very cruel. Poor Brendan.

I hate that in a fortnight we've had two of these not believing and strained relationship things. Not fair ,

I do think it all boils down to what Ste actually sees. If it's a bit more affectionate than it should be (not saying Brendan would be all touchy feely but like for the case of having Ste have doubts, so a plot-device hug) then Ste might think God knows what.

But it's what Kevin says to him that makes him doubt Brendan, which surprises me. So I really do think he's gonna end up saying something that hits Ste's past with Brendan, like, oh, we slept together or he kissed me or God knows.


ETA: To be honest, I'm actually surprised Brendan doesn't put him six feet under for lying about that.

I sincerely hope this means Kevin is gone from Chez Chez. I refuse to have him work so closely to Brendan now.

Cos what, is Ste going to keep that he saw the hug a secret and just start accusing Brendan of cheating? Or if Brendan just told him Kevin had told him he was being abused, why would Ste still have a problem?

It really depends on what Kevin says to him, and the fact he sees them hugging - Ste's already a bit dodgy about Kevin working there, he's commented on him being attractive before, he's clearly suspicious of his relationship with Brendan even if he trusts Brendan anyway.

I really do think it depends on what he sees and what Kevin says. I actually think, oddly, it's in character now. Ste's insecure as it is, he sees his boyfriend hugging the cute twinky barman - then later finds out this cute twinky barman has been beaten, accusing his boyfriend of it who has done it to him in the past.

I honestly can't see Ste believing the sexual assault thing, but more just doubting Brendan because of whatever Kevin says.


ETA: If we get an abuse reveal after this then I demand they don't throw anymore unnecessary shit at them.

Cos it is ridiculous. One day doesn't bloody make up for like, two/three weeks of angst at it's highest. Especially when it sounds like it could be ridiculous and character-destroying on Ste's part.

People are already having a go at him and we haven't even seen it yet.

So this basically answers my long question of whether Walker knows about Brendan's abuse. The answer being yes.

I just really hope Kevin doesn't say Brendan raped him though, because noway whatsoever would Ste fall for that whatever he saw. Brendan maybe some sort of monster but no way would he do that to anybody.

I think it boils down to what Kevin says Brendan actually did. If it's rape, Ste would never believe that. If it's Brendan kissing him in an attempt to sleep with him or something, I might just be able to take that on board.

And of course I know Ste would have doubt about a beating, that's a given.

He could say he tried get him drunk then tried it on with him.

That's what Brendan did to Ste when they first got together. It's also what Brendan tried to do to Kevin the first time they met, too, so Kevin obviously has a bit of leeway even if he doesn't know that's what Brendan did with Ste.

I kind of get why Ste would doubt it. As much as you want to trust someone, it's not something you can just do. So if he sees this hug and then next thing he knows Kevin has gone to the police, it'll all seem very similar to Ste.
