The Lauren/Joey relationship might set Twitter and Facebook alight but thankfully the more mature among us can see through how fit the characters are and view this storyline for what it is - crap. Both characters are extremely unlikeable. Lauren is, in fact, hateable. I only want bad things to happen to her. Joey, as I described above, is a freak. The writers have failed. Scrap this pathetic relationship, recharacterise Joey and drop Lauren off a cliff.

there was a scene when they were in the pub with whitney and tyler and they went into the toilets. joey knew lauren was drunk then but still wanted to have sex.

He returned in Jan- told her he needed her. Made sure she didn't go into the police station. She said "youve finally found someone".

After this, we've just seen them kiss in front of whitney, then valentines day where their sharing intimate time together.

Only in the recent scenes have we seen that, mildly. i dont see how you think its all based on lust.

i know it can be confusing im not saying they dont i just find it hard to believe atm. i think theyre love needs to be tested more than that derek stuff though

Come off it, she'd had one glass. your speaking as though he's taking advantage of her. I recall a Ronnie/Jack scene in the past where she was a little drunk and they were getting intimate in the pub, so he didnt love her either?

Joey/Lauren were merely kissing in the toilets.

It's been written so badly - rushed, contrived, lack of depth - that none of it is believable. I don't for a second believe they're in love.

Why do you find it hard to believe? They are just showing a normal couple who enjoying being together after them rough few weeks/months. Hugging/Laughing in the background in R&R. my assumption is that they are focusing on the light hearted stuff, before her drinking storyline. I think thats when the relationship will be tested

I certainly dont want a Sharon/Joey fling, Sharon has already been weakened as a character by being with Jack, an affar with Joey would be a disaster for her character..

I would prefer John Hewland to return but I think we are heading for a Sharon/Phil relationship...

Thats my point though, how do you expect it to be the same? They are together and are enjoying each others company. obviously that was going to occur at one point.

If you mean the controversy should have been explored more i.e family/friends reactions i agree with you, but other than that i dont see what else should have happened

You gotta love some people on here honestly (this isnt aimed at you mona) but i recall joey/lucy threads when he first arrived and you had a fair share of people saying 'maybe he does have feelings for her', 'that they are good together'- that was within 2 weeks.

Idefinitely know what you mean, there should have been more of a buildup but subtle signs were there from the beginning. But i dont believe how firm some people are in negating their coming together. I think they had brilliant chemistry in nov/dec and even before then.

Virtually because they have just been in the background/had fleeting scenes we'll see that change once the drinking storyline kicks off or when they share proper scenes.

I'd say it was down to Jac/Davids acting a little too actually, obviously at the beginning they would have tried hard to create that bond/relationship, and now they are comfortable.

No he didn't love her. If you he did he wouldn't have gotten her sister and cousin pregnant. A one of mistake is one thing but showing utter disrespect by sleeping through family members is not love. Sharon looks like she could be Joey's big sister, so no I don't agree . The age gap is too visible onscreen to take any possible romance between them seriously - Joey is a boy, Sharon is a woman. I can't see Sharon being interested in a boy half her freakin' age. She's not a cougar. She's also a mother with responsibilties. Maybe the pre-Dennis Sharon might have had the odd fling with a younger man, but I just can't see the post-Dennis Sharon doing that. She wants a settled life for Denny in a stable relationship (remember Sharon and Denny moved around a lot before they returned to Walford). I think the last thing she would want is to have an affair with some kid half her age.
On the other hand, Dennis actually looked like he was around Sharon's age, which made them a good match among other reasons. And personally, I don't want Joey anywhere near Sharon. He's a terrible clone of Dennis and that's all he ever will be I'm afraid (IMHO). Throwing him together with Sharon would just make that fact even more apparent.

I think that it would certainly spice the show up a bit if it were to happen and sharon as a character. Maybe he could become more of a villian and formulate his character too. Find some way of manipulating money from the club from her and then exit dramatically if david witts isn't keen on staying on the show long term. It would provide direction and colour for both characters who at the moment are fairly bland. Certainly once archie was taken further as a real villian larry lamb became even more stronger in the part and he was a legendary villian in his manipulation of characters then suddenly ended on a high. Think maybe tje writers need to look at the cast and sharpen their pencils and create characters and stories we will remember like a affair between those two characters. Sometimes it needs to be a bit more memorable.
