It's been a week tomorrow and he is settling in quite well so far. Still quite nervy and he has been to the toilet twice in the bath, but all other times he has used his litter tray.
Not eaten a full meal yet, he keeps eating a bit then coming back to it, but he does eat quite a bit of his dry food.
He's quite a character and likes to explore and climb!
Next week, he will be left alone from 8-5, do you all think he will be OK, as during the day he usually sleeps upstairs under my bed.

I read somewhere that the reason they poo/wee in baths and showers is cos they're clean and cats like going somewhere clean.

Not that I am suggesting his litter tray is dirty, just that if you've just had a bath or shower, it may well be the cleanest place in the house at that point

Mine are left (the cat flap is open) from 7:30 til 4:30 on week days, but when they were tiny and not going out yet, they were still fine for that time period.

Yes I did hear this. Although this week, I've been clearing out the tray as soon as he has used it.

It's just cats for ya!

Mine go in and wee the minute I've cleaned it, then get very excited at what they've gone and done!

I only wish all new cat owners were as caring as you.

Early days yet - and you are both getting to know each other.

Very best of luck - but I would say that your mutt has found a pretty good place and in the future - he will replay all the love and care you are giving him.

If your home is normally a bit noisy (tv.on etc.) you could leave the radio on as company for him.

Glad to know I'm doing things right!
