Katy Manning

Saw her on Tales of the Television Centre last year and I wonder if she's suffered a stroke as she was speaking out of the side of her mouth and sounded slurred.

Any chance you can edit the thread title as the last two like this sadly marked the losses of the actors

I don't think she has- it might just be the way she speaks

Yes, I opened this thread with some degree of trepidation.

I think it's just that she's lived in Australia a bit too long...

On the Terror of the Autons commentary she talks about how her face had been badly injured in a car accident before she started on the show and how she's had many operations over the years. That might be part of the explanation.

I saw her in her Agatha Christie play a couple of weeks ago and she was speaking perfectly well. She's a trooper our Katy. She was carrying on with an injured leg and hernia after falling on ice.

The production is cursed. Co-star Dean Gaffney crashed his car the next night.

She has also had quite a lot of plastic surgery over the years. Hanging around with Liza Minelli didn't help either ! Still, she's a wonderful lady, and always has time for the fans.

Anyway, her speech isn't as impaired as Billy Pipers when she rerturned !

Me too! A relief to see it wasn't news.

I hadn't known about her accident and related operations. But I did about her years in the sun and cosmetic surgery. I liked the Doctor's reaction to meeting her again: "you've been baked!".

She's such a lovely woman and still a favourite companion. Even though her character idea was something of a neanderthal throwback idea by the production team. Still, it was the seventies. Funny decade.

Yes. But Katy said "Says so much about our time & team", meaning the seventies.

Sorry I didn't want to tempt any kind of fate as she was after Sarah Jane my favourite companion, it was just I was wondering if she had health issues. I never knew she'd been in a car crash.

It's all stress with Ms Manning. She's lost her credit card. She cancelled it, only to find it in her ugg boots!
