There is A VERY REAL CHANCE that Paul McGann will feature in a two parter multi-Doctor special. He's likely to be...

That last bit already contradicts Moffat.”

Does it contradict Moffat? He said there were no plans for an 8th Doctor series/miniseries/web series, I don't believe he mentioned anything about the 8th Doctor being/not being in the main series itself.

But yeah it does sound a little too good to be true.

Moffat reinforced that The Doctor is one man, 'not a committee.'

Another multi-doctor in quick succession might be a bit odd.

One of the "trusted" (McGann/50th Style *trusted*) GB sources says he hasn't heard anything about a further McGann appearance, but is raving about plans for Series 8 - with solid scripts and a celebration of Classic Who. Faithful references and more returning monsters ahoy.

Quote:
“Moffat's anniversary year for the show is 23rd November 2013 to 23rd November 2014, even though the series starts late August.”

Quote:
“Capaldi's first series is going to be a massive throwback to Classic Who! I don't know if Capaldi is involved in it (wouldn't surprise me though), but guys, what I've heard about the scripts is really topping Series 5. Moffat is back at his best.”

Well, I did say I missed that Series 5 feel

Now I'm sad about Matt again.

Sounds cool. I'd love to see him with Lucie back in action

Throw in a couple of these cool Daleks (seriously- if you haven't seen them go check them out I don
t know how many more hints I can drop before Christmas lol) and it could be the best thing since...well since Doctor who lol

11th Doctor's last moments, from well-known spoiler hounds:

Quote:
“Just as the Doctor is facing down the Daleks, regeneration energy engulfs him, as he has been given a new set of regenerations (presumably, anyway) by the Time Lords.

His exact last words are him saying "Love from Gallifrey" with a smile, just as the regeneration starts.”

What, they sneak up without anyone noticing and kind of throw it all over him? I imagined him having to do something clever first, not just 'Oh look, done!'

Love from Gallifrey?

Interesting last words there.

That won't be the ending, you can't have a regeneration being caused by one of the biggest Deux ex Machina's in the series so far...

Unless the entire Christmas special is about him finding and them saving Gallifrey with the Time Lords previously hinting they WON'T be giving him a new Regeneration set....then changing their minds at the climax, then it might work. Possibly.

He already saved Gallifrey. Hence the seeds for this potential resolution have been sown in the previous episode. Deus ex what now?

Supposedly the crack is involved, too.

So this will have been three years in the making.

As far as I can tell...

Spoiler tags in the spoiler thread because why not - major stuff

Spoiler
Since time / history has a habit of "catching up" in Doctor Who, as opposed to "always happening," the events of Day of the Doctor will override Name of The Doctor. The Doctor did die at Trenzalore. That was his tomb.

But through The Moment, altering his own personal history, and the decision to save Gallifrey, 11 will receive a new set of lives from the Time Lords and survive the battle. Even if the planet is still torched by the war and the regeneration.

The "trap" is to prevent The Doctor from saving Gallifrey by answering "The Question." How this will save Gallifrey, I have no idea - but nobody can let that happen. The Daleks have a new, vast empire, as we have seen - and the Time Lords returning would almost inevitably resume the Time War. Echoes back to the Pandorica Alliance when races will band together for the greater good.

Supporting dialogue provided: "Would you unleash hell on the cosmos, just to save your own kind?"

I'm not sure about how the Silence come in. There is speculation that with them seemingly being on The Doctor's side, having no idea who he is, he will inadvertently (or perhaps intentionally), start the religious movement which tries to stop him from reaching Trenzalore in the past.

As for who blew up the TARDIS - no idea Similarly I have no idea how this affects Clara and the GI scattering themselves throughout The Doctor's timeline.

It's hard to imagine it all playing out in a sensible fashion, but if it does, it would tie up the Matt Smith era - harking all the way back to The Eleventh Hour.

Speculation that Ckara leads to the TARDIS exploding -- by asking whoever-it-is in the trailer to change the future. I'm not 100% convinced but interesting theory

Few people it could be Tasha or an unexpected return of someone else. Who do we know who would have the power to help the doctor ?.

Just my own opinion, I have no foreknowledge or inside hints, just what I have picked up (right or wrong) from the series so far.(so probably completely wrong)

It looks to me that the cracks in the universe and Gallifrey being hidden are related to each other.

What if it is Gallifrey itself that’s causing the cracks as has been hidden away in the pocket universe but the strain of hiding the entire planet has caused stress fractures in our universe.

The Silent are supposed “sentinels” of time and as such would have issue with a race like the time lords who treat time as their own and something that obeys them not like the Silent who are there to watch over history?

For the Silent, perhaps prefer non interference in matters but probably up to the point when they want something then its ok to mess with history, so the time lords being destroyed/removed from the universe is nothing but a good thing for them.

The Silent take particular issue with the doctor because of his constant interference in time related events / changing history but more importantly the one last time lord who holds the key to rescuing his race.

Firstly the Silent try to imprison the doctor in the pandorica by gathering his enemy’s together to create the supposed perfect prison but that goes totally sideways when the Tardis explodes (which I expect is one of the main things required to bring back Gallifrey as it was the Tardis that locked it away in the first place) but accidentally takes out the universe with it.
My personal view is that The Silent didn’t know the universe ending effect of the Tardis exploding would have been so instead change their plans just killing the doctor straight out.

So plan B is to kill the doctor with their “perfect assassin” and use a religious/military organization to achieve this who co-incidentally are named the Silence (I would argue that this is nothing but Moffs way of connecting the two together?) but only end up making a stronger ally for him who specifically holds a grudge against The Silents.

This is where things go...well...Silent for the Silents (sorry) as they lose track of him as the doctor instead gets side tracked by the GI and the loss of the Ponds which is a major boost for the Silents plans with the doctor grieving for an undisclosed period then distracted with the GI who holds a grudge against him but leads the doctor to the one place the Silents have been desperate for him not to go to “Trenzalore”.

The Silents may already / will already know that it’s the doctors destiny not to destroy Gallifrey but to seal it away but possibly the 11th (probably now 12th) doctors future to re-open the seal and return them back to the universe which will lead into the Christmas episode where the Silents go all out to destroy the doctor once and for all and stop Gallifrey from ever returning.

Having just seen the post re: McGann ....would that tie in with the bit with Tom Baker in TDOTD where he mentions maybe in the future visiting favorites?

Ref Twelves costume.

'Curious as to what Twelve’s outfit will look like? Well, according to RadioTimes‘s source, it’ll be a “bit old fashioned” while still “looking to the future as well.” '

One day, I'm going to resist the urge to click on something that comes with the word "spoiler" in it somewhere...

Interesting to see

Not sure about the little ship. The big one is that of the Ice Warriors, however.

Also, those new Dalek-busting-TARDIS-rocking-shockwave scenes..

Spoiler
possibly the first from the explosive regeneration.

Cool trailer. 11 telling Clara "Everything ends sooner then you think".
She hasn't figured that out yet ?. Will find it hard not to be emotional on christmas night.
