Yay!

It shouldn't have been moved in the first place

We might find out who the next companion is soon.

Looking forward to finding out what doctor and his new friend will be facing.
Thing it will be a combination of old and new.

Got a feeling Missy will return especially if it is Capaldis last season and they want to give him a great exitt.

I really think it will be Capaldi's last series. I just don't see him going into Chibnall's era at all.

I just hope he goes out on a strong note though.

For those not reading the new companion thread, it seems that the new companion will be announced. During Match of the Day live on Saturday afternoon.
Which strikes me as a bit odd, as Who fans are frequently not sports fans.... But anyway.
News... At last....

But then the announcement is for the public, not just the fans...the fans are a tiny, tiny part of the viewing audience.

Hope it's not Alan Shearer.

Well I wasn't even including myself in that assessment!
It's just that quite a few fans that I know, aren't exactly, er, keen on physical exercise or sports.

Maybe it's a cunning plan to get even bigger ratings for the football by giving a section of viewers, not usually perceived to be interested, something to watch for.

I can't imagine football haters watching the whole match, just to find out the Doctor Who companion. They'll all turn on at 6ish, get the end of the first half and the pundits waffling for 10 minutes about how bad Man U are going forward, and how bad the Everton defence is before the big announcement!

It's a convenient slot, and the 15 minute half time break can be hard to fill without commercial breaks

Well whoever it is, I hope it's not a former bimbo from Coronation Street who thinks she can go global with a worldwide brand...

Not naming anyone in particular...

Was this particular bimbo pushed from the builders yard in corrie and then beated to death with a iron pipe?

The football match is Manchester United vs Everton. Two northern clubs. Could be a clue?

Do we really have to call that actress a bimbo? She wouldn't be my first choice but lets not make it personal though?

Whoever it is, it's an interesting way of announcing their casting though.

The game is being played at Wembley

The X-factor is filmed (nearby) in Wembley

So it's Cheryl or Louis Walsh as the new Companion

Where did that top name spring from?

Looking at IMDB she's had all of 2 credits so not exactly a big name

To be honest Shawn, I don't watch Coronation Street and was not referring to anyone specifically. I don't know who any of the actresses are and was just being general about it.

Yeah, the Radio Times have mentioned Pearl Mackie in what appears to be a pretty speculative article. Interesting that she's appeared out of nowhere though! And the idea bandied about that it's a big name...well, that's speculative too, of course. Still, around about this time tomorrow there'll be something meaty to discuss, anyway. If it's really left field, will we see the "Nooo!! Catherine flipping Tate?! Arghhhh!! Doooomed!!" sort of reaction I've heard happened on DS?

(the same RT article states that Cappers (as nobody else calls him) has already started filming the Christmas Special. Really??)

It must have been changed then as it now says he will start filming this month.

Quote:
“ Peter Capaldi starts filming Doctor Who this month, but assuming that the Christmas special – which we’ve been told won’t feature the companion –”

The new companion won't be in it apparently.

Georgina Campbell, second on that list is in Broadchurch 3, which surely rules her out as that films this summer
