There's an awful lot to payoff but I have confidence that Moffat can knit it all together!

I wonder what kind of scene they could have been shooting here:

This just occurred to me: imagine the costume Hurt would have to wear if his incarnation was between 6 and 7

Native American was the first thing that sprung out at me.

Could we be getting a montage of the Doctors long and bitter war against the Silence spread throughout History (from the dawn of civilisation on Earth to the 52nd Century).

Of course it could be numerous other times and places (even a primitive culture on another planet).

Oh my god, an actual piece of information.

Two, come to think of it. Though on the long list of "'Fringe' actors who'd I'd like to see in Doctor Who" she wouldn't really rank.

I wonder could Orla Brady be playing a younger Kovarian? Probably unlikely as there's only a 3 years age gap between the two but she does look a lot younger than Frances Barber.

Or maybe FB just wasn't available and they just did a recast (or a regeneration ).

Orla Brady was good in other things so she should be good in DW. Think she will play a new charcter rather then a younger version of Kovarian.I allways did wonder about Kovarian ageing. I allways thought as a perk of working for the silence maybe they slowed it down some how. Funny she is actually only 5 years older the AK whom played her "victim" River/Melody. So far christmas special sounds pretty good. Think 11 should get a good send off.

Just heard Richard bacon say he has Derek Jacobi on his show tomorrow, do you think he could appear in the 50th as the master if the time war does feature?

I expect this is old news on here but the running time of The Day Of The Doctor is now confirmed as 75 mins. My source is this weeks TV Times which is usually quite accurate,

Confirmed by the BBC a few weeks ago, but good to know it's being mentioned in the mags

Also, there was seemingly an Additional Dialogue Recording session for the 50th, on Tuesday. https://twitter.com/Briceybrownbear/...07429613039616

Is DT's Doctor in the 50th Special the Doctor we watched or the clone that went off with Rose in a parallel universe?

Not confirmed (as far as I know), but would assume it to be the 'proper' Doctor.

Aye - there are signs that point to it being a pre-TEOT, post-TWOM Doctor, but nothing is confirmed.

I think there are some contradictions. DT's hair seems to point to early series 2 Ten. (though it's true that when I rewatched I think it was Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead recently I noticed that he didn't have the spiky hair there either)

He has a Police Box TARDIS and a brown suit. Would suggest the real McCoy (NPI).

However, I'd be gutted if he turned out to be a Zygon facsimile as a cheap get out clause regarding memory of the events

Moffat would be egged on the street if that happened! And worse!

It's a premise rife with potential for laughs, thrills and poignant moments. It's not something they've really explore with much depth before.

Though, given the celebration aspect, they probably won't do so for this occasion.

I think you're probably right. I think it will be a really missed opportunity if they don't at least touch on that and we get a nice poignant reflective scene- if it was RtD writing it would be guaranteed but you never know with Moffat. He might favour knockabout action packed fun. I hope for a blend of both. You don't get actors with the power and gravitas of Hurt and Tennant and Smith and not give them some real drama and meaty dialogue to get stuck into. And by that I don't mean sub-Whedon smug banter.

I realize its a celebration episode though more than anything so not demanding a dark reflective act of navel gazing. But I also don't want a vapid, style over substance nonsense car crash like 'The Wedding of River Song'.

This chat with Moffat apparently hints at Capaldi's multi-Who-role being acknowledged... and that RTD had a master-plan for Capaldi long ago, which Moffat will be using.

I haven't watched it all, myself, yet.

Just watched it. Another fascinating interview. The bit about RTD and plans for Capaldi is fascinating as a concept. Of course it might never play out on screen but it shows how much they are always thinking about it.

Nice comments from Moffat on the viewing figures which put the doom mongers to shame and have some perspective.

Best of all is the 2 or 3 references to his chats with RTD which are obviously still going on to this day. Not only does it make me think we might see him back writing for the show but also shows that they are true friends and colleagues that love the show and makes an utter nonsense of the infighting and tedious era wars that fandom often indulges in.

They probably spend more time trying to goad fandom than planning for the future of Who.

Sounds like Neil Gaiman has had an Angels idea

Yeah, great interview. I also noticed that with RTD, but I think we all knew it before that it's just something that exist amongst fans.

And also the viewing figures, though I'm still not quite sure where they are getting the 77 million figure from.

Haha, Neil was my first thought when he mentioned that part about a good writer and the Angels.

Anyway, I'm kinda glad that Moffat himself seems to be done with the Angels at least for now.

BBC Worldwide reports a global audience of 77 million in the 50+ countries it's broadcast.

350 million in 170 countries for Top Gear.

...and so on. Complaints that the show will be cancelled when an episode gets 5 million viewers doesn't take in to account international figures
