Dark lines going down LCD screen

Can someone please tell me if LCD screens are well know for having Dark lines going down the screen?

im asking as my TV has them and its only while watching football or cricket that it can be seen so if there is anything green on screen they can be seen.

i though it may have been how i cleaned the screen but this is not the 1st tv it has happened as others i have had has the same thing.

the lines are dead straight from top to bottom and i would say there are 3 of them on my 32in tv.

I had 2 LGs do this, we were told it was a fault in them. I would not have another LG because of it.

Sounds like 'banding'. Once it happens they are very difficult if not impossible to get rid of.

If your TV is still within warranty then try to get a replacement.

They are the same:

These two companies also operate another joint venture, LG.Philips LCD, which focuses on LCD panels used in flat panel television sets and laptop computers.

This rather assumes the two sets both use Philips/LG panels - there's no guarantee that's the case (although it obviously may be) - both makes use panels from various sources, as all TV manufacturers do.

Well that used to be the case quite a while back . The Philips brand for TV is now used by the well regarded computer monitor manufacturer TPV of Hong Kong . The Audio products name of Philips is currently licensed ( rented ) to Funai .

But these arrangements only apply in Europe -- different set ups apply in USA & Asia .

OP if your screen is out of guarantee you may need a new LCD screen , but hopefully yours is new and your supplier / service department will get it sort for free .
