YouView Android app when

YouView has had an Iphone app since November or December.
Anyone got any ideas if they plan on bringing out a YouView app for Android.

The beta starts in the next couple of weeks but I don't know how long the beta will last for.

The first beta is out but it is somewhat limited. Can only view the EPG and send a remote record request not sure how this compares to the ios version.

I've got the ios one and while it does the basics ok that's all it does , there's no search or remote control functionality yet.

The Android beta has come to a close with the public release in the coming weeks. Other than being able to send record notifications (for a single episode only) remotely, seems like a useless app to me

That does sound pretty useless.

No series link? No ability to control the box (change channels, get information etc.)? No viewable TV guide?

There does appear to be series link option now, although Im certain there didn't use to be. You can view the epg, thats how you can select a program to record. but no changing channels option.
