I am just interested to know if anyone rents movies from shops or stores still these days or is it all done at home through a TV or set top box?

What was the last movie you rented and from where?

I haven't rented from Blockbusters in years. The last film I rented was a horror movie called the pact from Virgin Media.

i was only talking about this the other day.
it's been at least 13 years since i last walked into a rental store and picked a movie.
which is a shame as i spent my early teens hanging about in an independent video shop, got real friendly with the owner and would go after school and sit and talk movies and watch movies with him,but the independents went out of business when the chains started getting exclusivity on certain titles which the smaller stores couldnt sustain the losses.
but i hated the conformity of the bigger stores, so regimented. loved the higglety pigglety of the smaller stores..
i started building my dvd collection around 98 from play247.com and rarely rented after that.
but saying that rented my first ever movie from sky store on friday. taken2.

Haven't rented in years. I either buy them or stream them. Blockbuster's were always too expensive anyway.

I hadn't rented in years but in the past 6 weeks I've gone mental for it.

I lived in Scotland for 3 years and between buying the dvd's dirt cheap in Tesco and Asda, and streaming services like Lovefilm and Netflix, I never needed to rent them.

But I moved home to Ireland in early Jan this year and I've got back into renting my our film rental chain, Xtravision. They usually do 3 movies for 3 nights for 10 so thats not bad at all.

So in the past six weeks I've probably rented over 20 films.

**** Oh we can't get Lovefilm here but we can get Netflix - the same as the UK version. I had it for a year in Scotland and its ok, but theres too much crap on it. I like new releases.

Its jus Not the same ... I always remember you could rent before it was released to buy and that was the point but then over time you could rent and buy the same day ... Kind of killed the excitement. As a kid renting before it was released made me feel good ha ... Small pleasures

How are ya ??

I assume its the same too but I like it. Probably as so many of these kind of stores are dying out and this one seems to be staying, for now anyway.

Its certainly not cheap to rent. Apart from just out new releases, you could nearly buy the films in Xtravision for the same price as renting them but for some reason I don't do it.

Has anyone had the Yorkie disks yet ? They were part of some rental deal about 3 weeks ago and they were amazing. They don't offer the deal anymore so they don't stock them, and I can't seem to find them in any supermarkets or shops either. A-MAZ-ING !
