It's not the type of curry, it's the execution. Any curry can be magnificent, but any curry can be awful.

Sounds good. I think I have the same idea as you, pick a curry and then adjust the heat to taste. I like fish carries or lamb. As long as they are phaal hot.

I had a lamb pasanda last night, it was good with a beautiful thick sauce (probably ground almonds) and tender lamb which just fell apart, lovely

Gimme a decent selection of tandoori meats (chicken tikka, lamb tikka, shami kebab, etc) with a range of veg sides, and plenty of rotis...

One other standard I went for in my local Kebabish before housegroup or similar at church was chicken tikka, order of daal (lentil-based rather than chickpea - I HATE chickpea), salad (with mayo), rotis to scoop it up. More of a bread man when it comes to curries rather than rice...

Worse still - Vesta curry. Do people remember them? Horrible *powdered* curry (I kid you not). If they *had* any actual meat in them, it would have been horse.

Birds Eye chicken curries used to be a very nice Chinese style boil in the bag curry until they changed the recipe to a bland Indian style in a tray.
