IMO, the best bagged salad is 'Florette' - Tesco's own is dreadful - Lidl's isn't bad.
As for the dips - depends how many days they're out of date tbh - they will feel 'sour' & 'fizzy' on your tongue if they're too bad. Having said that, I've experienced that from dips I've just bought & are in date! Depends how the retailer stocks their food half the time too. Why do I always feel guilty reaching to the back for the longest date? I'm paying for the stuff! Anyone else do this? I always reach to the back for all fresh food I think most people do

I don't waste too much and if the birds get a bit of bread or whatever I don't consider that a waste.
But, a lot of people assume we all have big freezers and not everyone does so if it's a question of room for a bit of lamb or a loaf of bread I know which I'm going to sacrifice. |

I used to waste a lot of bread, now I put any slices that I would normally throw out, into the bottom of the oven and leave there for a week or so to dry out then blend them and make bread crumbs and use them to coat chicken, beef, pork etc.

POTATO PRESERVING BAG £2.99?
When there were three of us we used to get the old half hundredweight bags from a local farm shop. There were in a thick paper sack and seemed to last months. When it comes to wastage it's actually French mustard. I get a small jar, but use it slowly, and only get through a quarter of it before binning it about about 3 months. ![]() Agreed on mustard, I got the smallest jar of Tewkesbury mustard I could find and have finished a third of it. It's now expired but haven't had the guts to throw it out. Mint sauce is another one. Quote:
Oh yes. I went to buy a loaf of bread this lunchtime and I bought the loaf right at the back of the shelf with the longest use by on it.
I do it all the time. I assume most people do. Quote:
I keep forgetting to freeze it, but TBH I'm not keen on the texture after it has thawed out.

Bread , milk , bags of salad and fruit always go off before they are finished in my house. I don't eat much bread but always buy a loaf in case the kids want any. I don't drink milk but again always buy incase the kids want any. The intention to eat salad and fruit is always there but generally there is always some left over that needs to be chucked.
