If the one show ratings are high it usually means the regional news ratings on prior to it was high.

It has a few good spots but I think Perkins was flattered as an established name by having this accepted, it's like a first draft for workshopping purposes has actually been broadcast.

Yes, I wonder what happened to all that discussion over the summer that people were fed up with football because of all those fabulous Olympians. Football is Britain's number one sport and that can't be denied.

Last night's was a very attractive tie and if ITV can get a few more of that calibre - ie, involving Real, Barcelona or Bayern playing each other - there should be no issues at all with having to show all-foreign ties. If they end up showing Galatasary vs Dortmund it might be less good. But they're certainly more attractive than Huddersfield vs Wigan and some of the other FA Cup matches that they've had, and the demos are brilliant as well as we know.


With a 'stEnders lead-in that's unlikely, the only thing that will be to Masterchef's detriment is that it's ninety minutes long which is too long. I think Brekkie mentioned it the other day but it's ludicrous that they're unable to change the format to allow it to fit better in the BBC1 schedules. As it stands it's all over the place, this week Tuesday for an hour and Wednesday for ninety minutes, next week Wednesday and Thursday for an hour and Friday for half an hour. Is it really not possible to edit and format it to just two hour-long episodes? Just because it was five half hours a week before doesn't mean it has to be forever.


I know this is in jest but as well as being up against Corrie tonight it's also after a PPB which always drags it down as the lead-in from the regional news isn't there (which is not neccessarily the case of lazy BBC1 viewers being unable to switch over but because it benefits from the trail straight after the news saying who's on).

Only 1.68 m for the real CSI on Five at 9 pm. I remember when this used to get at least 2.5m. No drama competition against it last night either.

CSI NY got 950k, Dallas 375k in its too sexy for prime time slot.

The revamped format didn't work for Masterchef but going back to the stripped format doesn't work either, ideally it should be once a week with the final week having two or three episodes.

Ideally it should be on BBC2, and not thrown all over the schedule. I shudder to think what they will do with GBBO next year.

FA Cup replay date and time now set for Easter Monday at 12.30 pm. Rather disappointing that it won't be in prime time, but depending on weather it should still do very well. I'd guess overage starts at 12.00 and wraps up at 3pm, unless it goes o extra time and penalties.

GBBO is weekly so it would be fine if it where on BBC One.

On BBC4 ?

Which will almost certainly mean that when timeshift and +1 are added it will once again finish at above 1 million. Moving Dallas to 11pm looks more and more like one of the dumbest scheduling decisions Ch5 has ever made.

Even by their own standards it has been jaw dropping.

Can there ever have been a more mind blowingly daft question? (Though I guess a few might have wished the last two had been stranded somewhere or others that they were stranded there with them).

All week they have also had a 'supernatural week'.

I myself actually did a few such items on This Morning in the Richard and Judy days and they were well researched and handled with serious guests and objective discussion etc. You believed or did not believe what they claimed to experience but it was at least presented credibly but you never felt that the audience was being taken for a ride or that guests were being exploited without regard to how others saw them later. These days I am not so sure that is as certain.

In a chilling illustration of how UK TV has gone off a cliff in the past 20 years (and/or British society also perhaps) - the 2013 version of those proper news items from Richard and Judy days has had:

Bill Roache off Corrie telepathically talking to his dog, a woman psychic who can read pets minds by looking at a photo of them (the dog next to her was in my non psychic perception apparently saying get me get me out of here now).

Today we have been treated to a woman who has been taken on rides 'in her mind' via a flying saucer (um, if these voyages to saturn and venus were in her mind why does it need to hop on a UFO?) but also has had multiple orgasmic sex with aliens that look like octupii and cats - one of which was currently sat in the studio as Phil and Holly gawped - apparently doing some knitting! (Presumably making an E T cosy?)

Tomorrow David Icke will explain why the Queen is really an alien lizard.

This Morning has transformed from The Guardian via The Sun to the National Enquirer in 20 years.

Does everything have to come under the One Show banner, which means it'll be the usual mix of fluff?

The One Show isn't even broadcast from TV Centre!

I'm sure ITV would like all their 'bad news disasters' to rate like that. I thought it was supposed to end up sub 2m with no English involvement?!
