I can't comment on the quality of the show and the features as I've not watched it but I remember reading somewhere that questions on these shows have to be easy so that everyone has a fair chance of entering them.

Masterchef has now totally lost its identity, it's as if the last series never happened.

How has Comic Relief Does Glee Club on CBBC done for the past two days? (16:30 to 17:15 both days).

ITV foolishly leaving the Vatican for other stories, should have 30 minute coverage until 7.00pm to guarantee high ratings. BBC One ought ditch the One Show at 7.00pm

Channel 5: Crime Scene Investigation topped the day with a series high 1.8m (7.6%). It was followed by spinoff CSI:NY which drew 1.03m (6.3%), also a new high for this rerun of Season 8. Dallas, CSI: Miami and True Crimes rounded off the evening's programmes with 405k (4.6%), 211k (4.9%) and 157k (5.9%) respectively. Earlier in the evening, Nigel Marven's new series Whale Adventure began with 1.15m (4.8%), slightly above the slot average for 8pm. A rapid repeat of last Thursday's Cowboy Builders also outperformed the slot average at 7pm with 646k (2.9%) and a peak of 1.01m (4.3%). In daytime The Wright Stuff improved to 369k (6.8%), decimating the BBC2 and C4 competition which could only muster respective audiences of 95k (1.8%) and 125k (2.3%) over the same two hour period. And later the likes of NCIS (386k/5.3%) and McBride: Requiem (564k/5.9%) helped maintain a healthy advantage over BBC2.

Can't have the pensioners moaning that Emmerdale and Corrie have been cancelled.

Grand Designs Australia at 10am was new.

People like to knock The Wright Stuff and I'll be the first to admit it's not as good as it was a few years ago, mostly due to the repetition of panelists and talking points, but it's still a clear third in that timeslot every morning, cheap to make, fills a couple of hours every day that would be otherwise difficult to fill, helps C5 meet their quota of current affairs programming and is very good for audience share. There aren't many negatives really.

Well they haven't had much to shout about recently. Another couple of senior execs leaving Five announced today in something of a cost cutting measure.

It's very missable now. Same old panellists and reheated TPs, once in a blue moon you'll get an interesting TP where you learn something new. BBC2 and C4 giving up in this timeslot has made C5 complacent.

It's a restructuring, that's all. The roles no longer exist. Cost cutting, efficiency drive, call it what you want. If they wanted to do things ultra cheap they could have hired someone less experienced than Ben Frow in the role of controller. They're still hiring too, in a range of roles.

It's been a good day. First the ratings news which was broadly positive across the board for Tuesday, then a big piece in The Sun today which suggested the penny has dropped with someone somewhere at the channel that Brian Dowling can't present for toffee. Big Brother's ratings potential this summer just increased somewhat.

You're absolutely right. C5 has no news and no sport!

C4 has been trying for ages to be more competitive during the late morning period. But AFAIK nothing they've tried has even come close to the numbers The Wright Stuff achieves.

I agree though the programme could do with a refresh and some new ideas. Matthew Wright is and always has been one of the channel's best talents, but at production level I do feel some degree of complacency has set in and the standard hasn't been quite as high as it should be at times.

They should have just bumped Emmerdale & Corrie back an hour and postponed Food Glorious Food, not that anyone would have noticed. Could have seen a nice bump for Lightfields too.
