What's C4 got to offer in this genre exactly? Apart from horse racing which I love that is being served well but doesn't have much of a following outside of the big meets, I'm struggling to think of anything. There's the American football but apart from the Superbowl nobody really cares about that over here. And C4 News despite being vastly superior and on in a much better timeslot somehow gets worse figures a lot of the time than 5 News at 5.

Nice to see they are expanding it to a wider audience by giving it a BBC One repeat. If that's for the second episode, then it's higher than the original airing's overnight of 748k but being BBC1 that was to be expected.

And what's he pray for - not world peace or an end to poverty, but his first action is to ask for people to pray for him.
It was a shame ITV cut off after half an hour waiting for the result, but having followed the coverage over on C4 they didn't really miss much. It's just nice though to have the option to view such events without the bottom third of the screen being coverage in red!

I presume Bank Holiday public transport dictated the kick off time there, with less available in the evening than during the day. Why on Earth they made a decision today when Chelsea could be knocked out of Europa League tomorrow, freeing up the midweek, is anyone's guess.
The replay date has also affected Sky's coverage - Southampton v Chelsea was scheduled to be one of their Sunday matches but has now been brought forward to Saturday, 3pm kick off. I'm sure they're desperately trying to find a replacement as we speak.

Bit of a bummer for Itv. Not only does the FA Cup semi final draw mean that they will only have one big club in the Europa league next season instead of two, their replay for the much anticipated Chelsea v Man united game will be in early afternoon daytime and obviously not get the kind of ratings they wouldve been hoping for in a tea time or prime time slot.

Who knows. It's clearer than ever now that it was a monumental **** up letting it go, not so much because of how this season of the EL has turned out as that is down to luck more than anything, but shares are down more than even I had feared. It's not just the ratings on Thursdays that get affected as it drew in an audience the channel struggles normally to attract, and so now they can't point them in the direction of other things they are doing whether it be new season CSI or top documentaries like Bomb Patrol. The former last year for example did well over 3m for the season premiere, but (amongst other factors like Ted Danson joining the cast and no head-to-head with Death in Paradise) it helped launching in a week that was franked either side by high rating Manchester United matches.
You need appointment-to-view telly like that to showcase what else is on offer for that demographic and in turn increase reach in other slots.
Drama on Sky Sports 2 and (cough) t'internet (cough), Mission Possible for the Arsenal.

Poker isn't sport. C4 really could do with something alongside racing just to boost it's portfolio - though obviously they've now got Paralympic sport in the mix. I just hope that outside of the Paralympics over the next 4 years they give events coverage in decent slots, not an hour of highlights at silly o clock three weeks later. Now T4 has been axed too it would be nice to see the Saturday morning sports block reinstated - bring back Trans World Sport!

I think it'll pretty much pick up where it left off - it'll hover around the 6m mark, but not have the drop it had last year so as you say be more stable, but still below par for a series of this nature.
I'm not convinced by any of the changes really - I think the BBC completely missed the point in the complaints about the live shows by halving them to just three (one of the biggest complaints was we didn't get to see enough of the contestants singing live). I also think it loses something by having both the Battle and the Knock-out elements pre-recorded months in advance. All the "knock out" essentially is is the same as the first round of live shows last year, but ditching the public vote and being pre-recorded months in advance of broadcast.

It will be interesting to see how it performs without BGT on the same night. Both shows undoubtedly boosted each other.
