I think it is more intellectual than the BBC offering.
You could probably say that Sue Perkins' Heading Out is more intellectual than MBB but compare the ratings (even allowing for HO being on BBC2).

Ade is very much a face of itv these days. Someone likes him.
No, they only picked him for their tour of Britain programme cos it gave them a punny programme title - Ade In Britain.

So I wonder what style is it? Pre or post watershed-is it going down the Mrs Brown route with swearing or just clever enough to do without that?
They just showed a clip of vicious on Jonathan ross. It looks like an old fashion Itv sitcom from the 1980s. Not a bad thing but it doesnt look cutting edge.

I get the impression that it is a bit like Mrs Brown in that its a broad, old fashioned laugh out loud sitcom in front of an audience. I think it is meant to be a little bit sharper than Mrs Brown, but it has been getting incredible responses at the recordings. It is very camp too apparently. Post watershed I believe.

I think it could do really well. Apparently it will be airing on Saturday nights from next month with a BGT lead-in so it's got a great slot.

Can't do any worse than Jonathan Ross is in that slot.

Next Saturday's Pointless Celebrities is a Doctor Who special. Surely if PC was going out on March 30th, they'd save the DW episode for that night as a lead-in for Doctor Who.
Now that would be logical. They wasted a Comic Relief special on a random Saturday a couple of weeks ago when really it would have been better in the regular 5.15pm slot on Red Nose Day itself.

It looks good although I like anything with Ian McKellen and Derek Jacobi in it, itll be interesting how much they can push the envelope on ITV.

On The Andrew Marr Show, Jeremy Vine referred to "the hit BBC Two comedy, Episodes", and just now called it a "smash hit". It has been recommissioned apparently.

Still a respectable audience. Not many shows can hold on to a 6-7m audience on a regular basis.

Notice she didn't say it was the highest rating show of the day; seems odd for her not to point that out if it was...

EDIT: Guessing the rugby scored more viewers!

Since when is 1m viewers a smash hit? Jezza a little bonkers there...

I don't understand why the BBC has done another remake of The Lady Vanishes. Apart from the Hitchcock original (generally accepted to be one of his best films) there was also a remake in 1979.What next - a remake of Only Fools and Horses ?

SNT only slightly up on last week (inc +1), suggesting the Pointless repeat held up well, as perhaps did the 19:00 news (boosted by rugby).

I'm willing to bet that only a small proportion of tonight's audience (whatever it is) will have seen either.

SNT is maintaining a steady audience so far. I would think many of its audience are younger so there wouldn't be a big crossover with Pointless audience

So that is it's absolute peak isn't it. It's not going to get much higher or lower. It's good but with good competition I am sure it can be beaten.

Doesn't SNT always peak at the Win the Ads part? It's usually just before 8.

Which is probably true. None of my kids(older kids that is ) like it though. They find it boring and old fashioned.

I have to say I tend to agree on there first point but that's not relevant because it pulls in good figures.

With competition - that's the line that is always used to excuse an itv show rating well. Presumably the BBC are sitting around trying to find uncompetitive shows for Saturday night, ie the same stuff they have been showing for the last 27 years

Btw I searched twitter for pointless celebrities, trying to find its rating, but all I got was a link to Chris Evans twitter feed.

It probably does. By the way you probably know this but my post was poorly worded. I was saying that is as high as SNT will average and it won't be getting much higher I wasn't talking about the peak.

My fault sorry!
